...have it show up that there's a trackable in a specific cache?

Out Geocaching today and I located a cache with a pretty large stuffed piggy with a tracking bug. Didn't think much up it at the time as I wasn't planning on grabbing it but after getting home I realised that I didn't grab the code to log that I saw it.

I went to the cache's page to check what it was called and discovered that the cache has no listed trackables. So I was planning on heading back to the cache tomorrow to check the code and I was wondering how I would go about listing that I found it and having it show up in that cache's inventory?

I know how to log that I discovered it but how do I log that I found it in a specific cache and have it show up as being in that cache since it's unlisted.

You may go to the TB's page and make a "Grab" log (by entering the tracking number here: https://www.geocaching.com/track/), so the TB will be in your inventory. Next, edit your original "Found It" log for the cache (or make a Note log) and in the drop-down menu at the bottom of the page, select "Dropped Off" for that TB, and submit the log. Now it will be correctly listed in its cache.

Not if he doesn't have the tracking code to hand ... I'd write a note explaining you saw it in the cache on BOTH the TB's page and the cache's page. Then if you still want to return and get the code you can do edit your messages making them discovery and log.

You would need to log it as a "grab", then "drop" it into that cache.

A "discover" log will not move it into that cache's inventory.

If you have already logged the cache as "found", you don't need to log it as "found" again. You could log your visit, and the business with the trackable, as a "write note" log if you like.

From your "found it" log, it sounds like it was this cache: https://coord.info/GC261A9
