Does anybody know what happened to the Geocaching University website? They had some great downloadable resources, especially log sheets and brochures to give to inquisitive muggles..

The website folded. I agree, it was a great resource that I used many times. IIRC the site has been gone about a year, maybe two.

You can study Geocaching at a university? What an amazing news! I have to think about a second degree.

 

Yes, there is actually a for-credit class on geocaching one can take at the Ivy league university where I work. I occasionally get logs on my hides which mention finding it as part of the class. Since most of the students here come from other places I have no idea if they continue to play the game once they leave the university.

As for the website "geocacher-u.com" according to the wayback machine it was still alive (but likely dormant, last entrys seem to be 2011) in January 2016.

Geocaching University was run by CYBret, who may or may not still be an active geocacher. He's a friend on facebook and instagram, and I've met him live in person at several geowoodstocks.

He is still active and will run an Event in September.

I chatted with Cybret a few days ago. One of our locals was looking for his tri-fold brochure from the downloads section. The site got hacked and the host became more trouble to deal with than they were worth.

He's not sure if it will come back or not. I hope it does.

There are still some caches out there that refer to it.  Working on one now (GC5C6YQ) that use a cipher wheel from that page.
