+fro68
Hello, I bought a new Garmin Oregon 600. I have upgraded my geocache.com membership to premium. I have ran a search for geocaches in my area. I have read the FAQ and found this: Send to GPS If you have a DeLorme, Magellan or Garmin that connects directly to your computer through an interface cable, you can use the "Send to GPS" functionality to send a cache listing directly to your GPS device. The first time you use this functionality, you will be instructed to download the appropriate plugin for your GPS device. Where can I find the "send to GPS" option? I cannot for the life of me figure out how to download anything from the search to my GPS. Quote Link to comment
+Die Nemos
There are several buttons in the listing under the coordinate: LOC waypoint file GPX file Send to my GPS The last one should copy a GPX file of the listing direct to your GPS if you have installed the plug-in. When you use it the first time, the plug-in should be downloaded first. Quote Link to comment

Just download the GPX and save it to your GPS or download to you computer and copy/move to your GPS. Or, use software like GSAK, or as a PM create Pocket Queries. Quote Link to comment
+fro68
Ok. Just so I'm clear. After I do a search I have to save each caches GPX file to my computer then copy/paste. There's no way to do a bulk save of all of the GPX files? Quote Link to comment

There's no way to do a bulk save of all of the GPX files? Do your search. Then: Check all caches from the searches' result to a bookmarklist. Create a Pocket Query from that BM list. Download the PQ, unzip it and copy the resulting Gpx files to your Garmin's Gpx folder. Hans Quote Link to comment

+fro68
I downloaded GSAK and did a bulk download. Geocaching website should have an option by now to do the same thing. Quote Link to comment
+Mn-treker
If you want to send individual caches to your GPS. You will need to use Firefox or Internet Explorer11. The send to GPS does not work for Chrome nor Edge browsers. Install the plugin into the browser and activate the plugin. Quote Link to comment

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to download anything from the search to my GPS. The old search has a "Send to GPS" at each cache result. The new search page has no link. Open a cache page and there's a "Send To My GPS" button. This feature seems to be going away. It's cool for people who can use it, but many people can't get it working, nor keep it working if they have it. The Garmin Communicator plugin is becoming tougher to maintain. It doesn't even work in Edge. If you're fine with GSAK, you can search and send one cache, or a bunch, from that. For one quick cache, I get by with the "GPX File" button. Next to the "Send To My GPS" button, it allows downloading the cache file without any plugin. As mentioned, Bookmarks and Pocket Queries are a way to get a lot of caches at once without special software. Edited August 3, 2016 by kunarion Quote Link to comment

At the end of the day, GSAK is just a waypoint manager (albeit, one with a lot of features) that runs as a native application on a PC. There are many others (EasyGPS, ExpertGPS, Basecamp, etc) which differ from the "Send to my GPS" which requires a web browser, in that they use a "driver" to send (and receive) waypoints between the application and a GPS. The *results* of a pocket query may be sent to directly to some (most?) GPS devices simply by copying a file from a computer to a mounted "drive' (e.g. a micro SD card) in the GPS, but if one wants to manage a lot of caches at once, the use of a waypoint manager is the way to go. +NYPaddleCacher
At the end of the day, GSAK is just a waypoint manager Yep, and a Bugatti Veyron is just a car... One does not need to spend two million dollars for a car with a top speed of 250+ miles per hour (408 km/h) to drive a couple of miles to the store for groceries a couple times a week. In any case, the Koenigsegg One:1 is the new Bugatti Veyron I wasn't trying to criticize GSAK, but just point out that the use of a waypoint manager for both managing waypoints and transferring them to a GPS is better than trying to transfer cache data with a web browser. +noncentric
Geocaching website should have an option by now to do the same thing. The website does have an option, available to Premium Members - Pocket Queries. Quote Link to comment
