MarcusArelius Posted October 2, 2003 Posted October 2, 2003 Well TL maybe this log will cheer you up. I'm glad I did Dragonfly Pond before this guy did. Mark Quote
+TotemLake Posted October 2, 2003 Posted October 2, 2003 LOL I wasn't really down until you showed me that! eeeks! It actually hasn't been all that bad, I've had good opportunities to get caught up on some of the home improvement stuff and yet still managed to put some off for another time. Did things with my family I otherwise wouldn't have had time. Met new friends during times I probably would have been too tired to put out that kind of effort. Had great experiences with great hikes with time enough to heal without having to burn up any vacation time. It's all in the perception and what you make of it. Cheers! TL Quote
+Right Wing Wacko Posted October 3, 2003 Posted October 3, 2003 Well, it looks like we might get one more weekend of decent caching weather before the fall monsoons set in. Is anyone interested in one last trip east to the Cle-Elum area? There are a couple new caches on the radar over there the past week or so as well as a good selection that I doubt everyone has scored yet. Any Takers? Quote
lucyandrickie Posted October 3, 2003 Posted October 3, 2003 Hmmm...let me run it by Rickie. Sounds like fun. Will get back to ya soon. Honestly, after meeting you this past weekend, you are not nearly as scary as your photo! Quote

+CachinCin Posted October 3, 2003 Posted October 3, 2003 M-A, I felt honored that the nudecacher picked one of our caches. It certainly makes for an interesting photo! I'll take him over the pirate (who also hit Dragonfly Pond) any day. Now that I think about it, the Dragonfly Pond cache has had some interesting adventures. R-W-W, I know you don't care for heights, so you may want to avoid "On Top of Old Peoh" (a Cle Elum area cache)...or at least mentally prepare yourself for it. I thought my husband might leave me after that one! It's a great view, but the drive up is pretty intense (10 miles on a dirt road, with lots of drop offs...a couple of times on both sides). The cache itself is about, oh, 40 feet from the top of some awesome cliffs. Cin Quote

Posted October 5, 2003 Posted October 5, 2003 Cache Ahead and I successfully bagged Dream Lake!!!!! http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=96173 Link should work once it's approved. Geocoin 151 is there. It will be officially deposited once the cache is approved. Lots of pics posted. One hell of scramble to the lake...had to bushwack around the headwall section of the stream. We got into some very ticklish situations climbing rock, but on way back we actually found a faint trail that lead from the lake to below the cliffish section. After that you really have to do the creek bed. It's low now people so it's the time to get the cache. We camped at Big Creek. Started hike at 835 am and got down about 415. Quote

+CachinCin Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 Hi Everyone! Some of you may have been contacted already by Tacoma cacher DiscoCry, but I told her I'd post a message here as well. She's a Social Studies teacher in Tacoma. She'll be giving a presentation on geocaching at the Washington State Council for the Social Studies this Saturday (10/11) in Edmonds at the Edmonds-Woodway High School. After a short talk, the 35 teachers will go outside to search for caches near the building (the caches will be placed the night before). DiscoCry could really use a few more cachers to help the teachers. They won't have their own GPS units, so they'll be relying on volunteers to bring their units. This is a great opportunity to help out teachers, and to promote the educational value of geocaching. If you think you have an hour or two free this Saturday, the contact information for DiscoCry follows. Irene Smith 509-452-1257 or bradirene15@msn.com Cin Quote

Being up in the hills overlooking a city with Mt Rainier in the background, it has to be around Ellensburg, either on I90 or I82. Now that I think of it, Pepper and I were waiting until salmon season to do this one: Salmon Home Stretch Are the salmon in the Lake Sammamish area yet?
