Still came up empty. I've got a few ideas, but they don't seem to be panning out. Evergreenhiker, I am very impressed you found it! Cin Quote Link to comment

+CachinCin
This afternoon, three members of the Peanut Butter Brigade headed off to pick huckleberries and snag a cache. If you haven't been to theHuckleberry Patch, you should give it a try. The huckleberries have just peaked, and there are still a few blueberries left. Bring a bucket and plan to spend a couple of hours -- or just bring your hands and gorge yourself. The view up there is spectacular as well. You're driving up past Snoqualmie Pass, winding high on a dirt road, then looking back over the Cascades. Click through to the cache page to see a couple of photos. Cin Quote Link to comment

Cache ID GCD http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GCD http://www.geocachingwa.org yeah, I noticed that one. it's on my todo list, but I've narrowed the list down to 2 or 3 places...one being Lake Valhalla. If I do that, I'm going to plant a cache, mabye two caches, in addtion to the big find up there. I know of a couple great spots...one also not too far from Valhalla and the other will require several miles of hiking...will need to go past Lake Janus and up onto the Crest Trail itself to a beautiful overlook. The other two are peak climbs. Kinda leanign towards Valhalla right now. One of the peaks might be a setup cache. Quote Link to comment
Moun10Bike
quote:Originally posted by Right Wing Wacko: How about the Oldest remaining active Geocache in Washington State. FYI, that is not the oldest cache in Washington (or the world). Its low waypoint ID is an artifact of the way in which Jeremy pulled the caches originally listed on Mike Teague's Geocaching Web Site over to Geocaching.com. Jeremy took all the caches and arranged them by state, putting the Washington State caches first, followed by Oregon, and then the other states alphabetically (followed by other countries). Washington's "Geocache" just happened to be the thirteenth in the order (hence "GCD"). This mixed-up order only exists for the first 50 or so caches; once the original caches had all been moved over to GC.com, subsequent IDs were assigned based on when the cache was submitted. The oldest cache still in existence in Washington is actually Mountain Marsh (GC8) down by Mt. St. Helens. The oldest cache in the world is Mingo (GC30) in Kansas. Dave Ulmer's original stash was GCF. The first one ever placed in Washington was Mike's First (GC4). [This message was edited by Moun10Bike on September 08, 2003 at 06:12 AM.] Quote Link to comment
+pdxmarathonman
I am sure it's been discussed to death, but I love the irony that Mingo is buried! For those unaware, there is a memorial plaque at Dave's original cache site. And he was there to help dedicate it!
