Miss Goody Two Shoes I happy to report there is still godd in our area.

cooperdog/Jerome did this yesterday.

Checked on the cache since I live right close. The first waypoint is still there. I moved it to it's original position. Friend and tag are still together. The final is still snugly hidden too. FYI

How about that for Good.

Cute. Cooperdog's reply! You did GOOD! I'm just SO GLAD!

Yes Pepper....you sweet little lady. I know there are a lot of GOOD people out there. Many, many people that are entitled to join MGTS club. I must think of a name for that shortly!

There just seemed to be such an invasion of EVIL out there. I thought they were gone. But now we have Dr. Nellie encroaching on Seattle. I think doing such things as Cooperdog did, might spread around and make the EVIL icon_mad.gif ones shrink into nothingness.

As the darling man said 'In the end good always wins, my dears.'

Thank-you cooperdog, honey! icon_wink.gif

Ever since my attempt at the F.R.E.E. Again cache, my shoes have a red overcast -- they look more brown than gray now. I'm not sure what was in the woodchips on that trail, but everything I wore was covered in a fine red dust.

Time to clean and wax my shoes again,

I've heard Montrails are great boots! I've got to waterproof my Zamberlains again and get some some of that shoe goo or whatever to fill in the gap that's forming between the leather and the sole. I do a lot of hiking so I tend to wear the boots out after just 3 or 4 years, usually the sole goes first...no tread. Only thing I don't like about the Zamberlains is the soles aren't stitched like Danner boots are, but I don't like the fit of Danner boots so I guess I take feet comfort over longeivity of the boots. Your foot is the single most important thing to take care of out there...if it goes bad, you might be stuck, especially if far in the backcountry and rough terrain.

Oh Cin! Beautiful boots. Yes my dear, like I said on my profile. My favorite shoes are my hiking boots. I have FOUR Pairs! Told you I liked shoes. Then I like my Stilettos. For a night out after geocaching.

This is why I liked the Marilyn Monroe quote. It can definitely apply to any kind of shoe.

Thanks Sweet Cin.

I would be so GLAD and HAPPY to meet you someday. icon_wink.gif

Sorry about that, TL. I was just never really that happy with that cache. The more multis I do that require writing down lots and lots of information, the less enamored I become of them. FMF required a lot of that. It wasn't getting many hits, so I assumed that others were feeling the same.

Hey Peanut Butter Brigade (and everyone else!), I've got an area that you should consider for one of your outings. I was up at Blewett Pass on Saturday, and as always, I was blown away by the scenery:

My log from "Lion Rock"

My log from "Tronson Ridge"

This has always been my favorite locale in the state for mountain biking, and now it is my favorite locale for geocaching! There are a bunch of caches available in the area now, so you can make a day of it, and just about all of them treat you to spectacular views!

Thanks for the suggested caches -- they look awesome! I think that this week we're attacking the Nellie Does Green Lake cache, but Lion Rock & Tronson Ridge look like must-dos!

Just logged another find. This one was without any tip sheets at all! I went to GCAFBE, New Original Lord Hill Cache, after discovering this park when looking for GC5D43, Lord Hill Back Side and made the fatal "No Tip Sheet" disocovery. Instead of turning it into a wasted trip, I decided to sleuth it out with the tips and skills I picked up on my other finds.

Here's my log and a couple of pics. I'm pretty proud of this one. The drive was too long and the hike long enough not to try to find this one.

Cheers!

Hey you said He in referring to the deer, what kind of a rack did it have...fork horn, three point???

While I was at the VCM, I saw a monster blacktail buck just a few feet away from me, but failed to get the camera out in time...at least a 4-point that boy was and his rack was wide and high. Velveted though as you would expect this time of the year.

Thanks everybody! I'm still smiling at this find. Snickers, well... he's just waiting patiently for another good hike.

EGH, I read your tribulation at looking for that cache. I stopped at that pond next to the pipeline trail after finding the Lord Hill Backside.

Moun10Bike, I was thinking the same thing about how this seemed to be bike friendly, but they now have trail markers on Temple Pond Loop banning bikes citing trail damage.

As for the buck... I honestly can't remember what kind of rack I saw on him... I just marveled at seeing one that had something more than ears on the top. I do remember they were smallish, so figure this was a fairly young guy. I couldn't even get my camera out fast enough to get a pic.

Cheers!

I just tried filter find again and the same thing once more timeout/error.

Before it times out it takes me to a page that says nearest caches and it has my home coords in a dropdown box and I have to click on the seek button. After clicking on the seek button that's when it times out. icon_mad.gif

Hello my darlin Geo-Friends!

I just had to stop by at Nellie does Green Lake today. I gave the PBB a nice little pep talk. They are so sweet.

I explained some of my secrets for spreading GOODNESS into this area. After that I just knew they would find the cache.

Thanks for letting me tag along and find this fun cache.

I guess I'll go post this on the other thread now so Dr. Bad can see what happens when MGTS is in the area.

Bye, bye now. icon_smile.gificon_smile.gificon_smile.gif

Oh yeah, the Peanut Butter Brigade rock the lake today. We blazed thru all the wp's untill we hit 5. We thought we were had at that point but low and behold MGTS shows up and sprinkles us with her happy dust and off we go to finish up.

It even rained us today and that was just fine too.

Gosh I'm sleepy and feel maybe at this point I am making no sense.

Yes, we did indeed spend quite a bit of time at Green Lake today. We walked the perimeter, drove around a couple of times, and just generally got to know the area. Never did spy the evil Brother Neil, but horns are easy to hide beneath baseball caps.

This is a fun one, and I hope others will head over to give it a try soon. Plan for a long day...or allow for multiple trips. icon_smile.gif

while the PBB was tackling Green lake, I took off to the high mountains to get this one:

http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=81534

After that, I hiked on past Snow Lake and reached my new cache location approx. 430 pm. Planted Gem Cache and is awaiting approval. Views are superb from this spot...bit of hiking and elevation gain though.

Weather was fantastic between 3 and 530...sunny and warm. Earlier on, I got rained on at the Alpental TH and by the time I reached the Overlook cache, it started to clear up...approx. 240 pm. Lots of people out and some backpacking at Gem Lake.

It started to cloud over with angry looking clouds as I went down. Got rained on the last bit and got back to the Jeep just a shade before 8 pm. Pretty good time considering I didn't start hiking till approx. 120 pm. One of my usual late starts...I find that I can avoid the big crowds this way, people are going dwon as I go up.

I wonder if Miss Goody Two Shoes spirit was up there today looking over me as the weather flipped to the great side while I was up there. icon_smile.gif

EGH, That's a beautiful area! I camped about 2 1/2 miles NE of there on NFD 5620 back in 2001. That's the forest road that took my little fully loaded to the gills Subaru Forester 4 hours to drive 20-25 miles. I think at that time I was there, that would have been an all day 4 mile hike with a 2000' elevation gain for me. Snickers and I were harrassed by a raccoon two nights running until I realized it was the lemon cough drops that he was after. I would have stayed a 3rd night, but that mid morning had news reports of impending severe thunderstorms which resulted in a record breaking pack up and depart to beat the storms out.

Cheers!

Wow, you have been hitting and hiding a lot of great caches lately! Cool!

We completed Doc. Nel's cache yesterday. It was fun! That 5th WP does take a little figuring but we did it.

Yes, MGTS did show up later in the day just when we needed her. It wouldn't suprise me if she did sprinkle some happy dust your way!

Looking forward to finding this one!!!

Funny about your strategy for avoiding the crowds on the trails... mine is just the opposite: Usually I start as early as possible. Rarely do I see anyone on the way up, and I start bumping into people on the way down.

The other way to avoid the crowds is to pick tougher hikes... icon_smile.gif

I planted Bandera Mountain on a Sunday -- I got a late start (10 AM) as I had some out of towners. That should be prime hiking time, but we saw a mere four non-trailworkers on the way up -- and absolutely no one between the western false summit and the true summit. On the way down, I lost count but it was around a dozen folks -- a miniscule number for a weekend hike on a clear (though hazy) day to a classic destination only 45 mins. from Seattle.

Link to comment

Dayvi,

I saw you Bandera cache pop up. I'm on it before too long. Really, really glad to read that the new trail is in. I'm a veteran of the old trail which like you said, had me taking several breaks on the way up. On the way down, it's a knee killer. I want to say that the old Bandera trail is every bit as tough as the Mailbox trail if not tougher. Actually the Mailbox trail is pretty dadgum good for a steep one.

Have any idea when the fork to Mason Lake will be open? Thinking I might do a big loop...go up Bandera, swing by Mason, go to Defiance, check on my cache, and go down my route back to the trailhead.

Never been to the other summit on Bandera...actually it was just last year that I realized that I hadn't actually bagged Bandera officially as I've always stopped at the usual summit and I just assumed I was at the top.
