It is such a beautiful building and I would love to place a micro cache in the bushes around just to attract people to the site, not on the actual building itself. I would presume I would need to get permission to do so as this place is locked up every day and guarded by a warden 24 hours a day. Does anyone know who I can get some answer's from? I am not having much luck contacting english heritage's details on there webiste. They don't seem to know what Geocaching is when I tell them and they just dismiss me. I'd recommend getting in touch with other local geocachers to find out if there's been a larger attempt at outreach with this organization. Working together, you might make more progress. It can take years to get some of these organizations to consider allowing geocaching on their lands. Quote Link to comment

They haven't exactly given a no they sent me another email address and then the responses stop... so im not quite sure where I should contact. I think it's more there confused about what it is so they don't know what to say. I don't want to give up as I would love to show people this site.... everytime i tell someone about it, they've never heard of it.... It's only been standing for 600 years. maybe I could contact the council instead and ask if I could place one just outside. Thank you for your advise, I shall contact some local cachers. Speak from the heart of what attracted you to that spot, and why others might want to see it too. They may agree with you. Prepare yourself for some bargaining, or an outright no. For a local park that has a working gristmill and cool waterfall, we sat through a couple of Township meetings before they "had time" for us to present geocaching, and our plan. After our agreeing that the cache wasn't to be on, or close to the mill (about 50' away), and only to be a micro, we were approved. Of course now there's a cache on the other side of this little park, placed without permission. That's happened in three different parks. We ask, they don't. Lack of permission (I believe) will eventually be the thing that ends this hobby. Quote Link to comment

I would be more than happy to put one down with Swappables, I love lock boxes and ammo cans, I just get the feeling they wont let me. Ive been in more talks today, but I sense it's going to take a while to get an answer, if they are happy for me to put a larger container down I will. I shall pop a link to the place it is... The National Trust give 'open' permission for a lot of their sites, and evan have their own caches out there... Some were listed on another site, that no longer exsists! Quote Link to comment
