+rock33
Indiana County in PA is celebrating its Centennial Anniversary this year. Indiana County Parks along with the Tourist Bureau asked me if they could place commemorative coins in my Tour de Parks caches. I felt the NE forum would be a good place to let everyone know about this. Quote Link to comment
+The Leprechauns
Wow! Great idea, and a shining example of cooperation between parks and geocaching. I hope they will consider placing several coins in each cache, or to replenish the supply a few times during the year. Otherwise a cache hunter could be disappointed if someone beat them to all the goodies. We definitely plan on hunting the rest of the Tour de Parks this summer, having sampled a sneak preview in February, and look forward to finding one of these commemorative coins. NOTE: if it wasn't for good geocaches like yours, we'd have no particular reason to visit Indiana County and spend our tourist $$$$! x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x I was formerly employed by the Department of Redundancy Department, but I don't work there anymore. The Buzzard's
I agree with The Leprechauns...We'll have to finish that park tour this summer too. The Buzzard's Quote Link to comment
+IV_Warrior
When are the coins going to be available? I may make a trip out sometime to get one. Somehow making certain that coins will be there will increase the chances of me making the trip. Just because you're paranoid DOESN'T mean they're not ALL out to get you. Quote Link to comment
Eeyore and Shadow
I can't think of a better reason to finish the Tour de Parks something shiny is always nice. We are nearly half done. Doe to weather, health and failing cachemobiles we have been sidelined since midnovember. I am aching to get back out caching now how do i get Shadow moving? hmmm Eeyore I'm one sat short of triangulation. Quote Link to comment
+rock33
There should be plenty to go around. Last week they put, in the park director's words, "10 to 15" in each cache with the exception of the micros. I think they are the wooden coins but I’m not sure. Quote Link to comment
+Ttepee
I think I'm going to move to PA... it's so geocache friendly there. I'm jealous. Quote Link to comment
+MissJenn
For a quick link to one of the caches that rock33 is talking about, try Pine Ridge Park. I initially thought the words "Tour de Park" would be in the name! Of course, the search engine returned zero results for that. So, rock33, is there a time frame for this "placing of coins"? Is there a timeline for events related to the centennial celebration? Ttepee, come on down! quote:by Leprechauns:Great idea, and a shining example of cooperation between parks and geocaching. Lep, you know I;m always looking for those! ----- You must be present to win. [This message was edited by MissJenn on April 09, 2003 at 06:25 AM.] Quote Link to comment
+rock33
The Indiana County Bicentennial Celebration started on 3/30/03. There are 9 caches in the Tour and the coins are placed in 7 of them. The other 2 are micros. Ttepee we do have rentals available. Quote Link to comment
