+Tante.Hossi 11 Posted April 29, 2016 I'm thinking about a new category for permanent Ball Tracks (I hope this is the right term ...). Examples: http://www.Waymarkin...0c-6b819230c536 http://www.Waymarkin...b1-4edecd083b53 You can find them at parks, museums, playgrounds, town halls and at other locations. They are made of stone, wood, metal or other materials. They have to be permanent to qualify. Some of them are just simple but others are more comlicated. What do you think? Is this an interesting idea? I know we have an existing categories for Rolling Ball Sculptures. But they are something different and really hard to find. Quote Share this post Link to post
+T0SHEA 180 Posted April 29, 2016 Perhaps you mean these: http://www.Waymarking.com/cat/details.aspx?f=1&guid=439f3ce3-d220-428d-9a1f-7c76620a27d9&r=10 Quote Share this post Link to post

So Tante.Hossi's examples do not fit there. I am not sure yet. It depends on the exact category definition. But why not? Quote Share this post Link to post

+elyob 157 Posted April 29, 2016 Really hard to find...that's for sure. Quote Share this post Link to post
+T0SHEA 180 Posted April 30, 2016 Rolling Ball Sculptures need some kind of lifting mechanism to qualify. That's the point! The point here is that the "Rolling Ball Sculptures" category has a grand total of 40 approved waymarks and was created on 1/20/2009. That is 7 years, 3 months, 11 days ago. How will this category fare seven years from now? Quote Share this post Link to post
+T0SHEA 180 Posted May 1, 2016 Rolling Ball Sculptures need some kind of lifting mechanism to qualify. So, would this qualify as a lifting mechanism? Quote Share this post Link to post
+fi67 157 Posted May 1, 2016 Rolling Ball Sculptures need some kind of lifting mechanism to qualify. So, would this qualify as a lifting mechanism? I am not an officer, but I would approve it. And don't forget to crosspost it to the Vortex category! Quote Share this post Link to post
+lumbricus 53 Posted May 2, 2016 These ball tracks are great. Through all my travels I've never seen one. So I think they are too rare for their own category. Quote Share this post Link to post
+Manville Possum 287 Posted May 2, 2016 I would support your idea. Quote Share this post Link to post
+Tante.Hossi 11 Posted May 3, 2016 I don't know if they are too rare for an own category. Here are some more examples I came across during my travels without searching for them: http://www.Waymarkin...91-ed0ea7c07ea3 http://www.Waymarkin...96-bde5e35bcdda http://www.Waymarkin...7b-a2ae4bdba3ae http://www.Waymarkin...3a-35b8f08b2e54 Thanks for your comments! +Benchmark Blasterz 65 Posted May 8, 2016 Personally, we think there are not enough of them to sustain their own category. I have not seen one, and I travel a lot, and go to many different kinds of places. Are these predominantly found in science museums? Or are they just random art pieces? +BruceS 4 Posted May 8, 2016 Not sure but would they might fit in the Kinetic Sculptures category. Quote Share this post Link to post
+Tante.Hossi 11 Posted July 29, 2020 I'm still dealing with this old idea of 2016. So I want to bring it back on topic. I still love this ball tracks. And I came accross some more in the last years. So what do you think? 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

There didn't seem to be a lot of support back 4 years ago for this idea because of the rarity of these. Quote Share this post Link to post
