Can't take a picture when logging

I can't take a picture when logging with this app. I select the picture icon on bottom of log area and it asks me to "Take a Picture" or "Choose a Picture". When I select "Take a Picture", my android returns back to log area and doesn't open my camera. The old paid app never had this problem as I was always able to "Take a Picture".

I guess my point is this app does not open my camera and take a picture. I have the classic app on my same android phone and it opens the camera to take a picture. Just trying to point out differences with both app. I will keep using the classic app.

An an FYI - when I use the Geocaching-R app and try to take a photo, then the app does open my camera. I'm using an LG Optimus Android smartphone.

 

As chenks said, it sounds more like a phone issue than an app issue.
