Found tb that wasn't logged to last cache

Found a tb today and grabbed it....then dropped it in another cache. Found later that the tb was not logged into the first cache to grab which means we cannot log it to the new location yet....what is the proper etiquette on what's next?

Log a "grabbed from somewhere else" TB log type. Maybe do a little explaining in that post about where you found it.

 

Then "visit" it to the cache you found it in.

 

Then log a "drop" in the cache you placed it in.

Or wait until the person who has the TB has a chance to put it into the cache where you found it. Then pick it up, and put it in the cache where you put it.

As the others have said, you need to log it as "grabbed" from http://coord.info/GC5WZG7 Primary - Purple and Red Circle. That will put it into your inventory.

 

Then log a "visit" to that cache. That will correct the mileage for the tb.

 

Then you need to log it as "dropped" into http://coord.info/GC35Z2A Rite! It's another one of those. That will put it in that cache's trackable inventory.

 

Just posting a "write note" log does not drop the trackable into the cache, as you can from its trackable inventory.

If it's already dropped in another cache, the record is more likely to get messed up by waiting too long. But that part has been discussed often.

Thanks all...I grabbed it from the current holder and dropped it in the new cache........added a note as well stating that.

 

This particular TB's goal was to "travel to as many events as possible"......and when I looked at the log for it, it had visited places but was not dropped anywhere.....I guess I have been away from this for too long...I guess this is something new? In the old days, a TB had specific goals like "end up in Colorado" etc.....we grabbed it and then saw the goal, so we dropped it locally in another cache because we were not sure what the goal really was.....hoe we didnt upset anyone.....

 

When we had placed OUR cache 11 years ago (!) we had put in a TB....it travelled a while and ebded up disappearing....."Tyler's Critter"......my kid was bummed.....so I know how it is to have your TB not do what you had hoped....
