We are looking for ones that take us to unique areas that we would otherwise miss. We are not at all familiar with the area so if you can suggest interesting sights to visit while there, even if they are not geocaching related, let us know. They are in a number of the original Olmsted parks throughout the City of Buffalo. Nothing too challenging, but some fun hides. Will you be around in August? +The Leprechauns Posted July 29, 2003 Share Posted July 29, 2003 Though I live in Pittsburgh, I grew up in Rochester NY and consider Western NY as part of my caching territory, as I visit friends and relatives there frequently. Please try to include a day at Letchworth State Park in your itinerary. The river gorge and waterfalls are spectacular, and there are dozens of geocaches nearby, of all difficulty levels. On our visit this month, we visited the "West Meets East" cache, which made our Top Ten Percent List (see our profile). If you search for the nearest caches to that one, you'll find all the others in and near the park. Some of the cache pages provide helpful links to websites about the park. +-=(GEO)=- Posted July 29, 2003 Share Posted July 29, 2003 In the Finger Lakes area, check out the 'Bear Swamp' area just South of Skaneateles lake. Many caches in a very unique place. Also, I have numerous caches around Buffalo and South of Buffalo. Most of them will take you to nice areas, some of them undevelopped, wild or gorgeous (pun intended). I also recommend the caches in the Niagara gorge region (by Mr Mom & Mrs Mom). Guaranteed to 'WOW' you. Read the logs and go with was seems appealing... Regards, Fabien. Quote Link to comment
