+Pioneer Poodle
We were recently in Hawaii, and during a visit to Volcanos National Park, we stumbled across this USGS disk. We photographed it, thinking we would look it up in a database when we got home - but we can't find it! We are almost certain it was near the Jagger Museum, and the HVO mark (Hawaii Volcano Observatory) would seem to support this. But where is it, and why isn't it in any database? And why is there a hole in the disc? Thanks for any info. By the way, how do I attach a picture (from my computer, not from a URL) to this post? [EDIT] Aha! Thanks, Shirley. The picture can now be seen here. http://img.geocaching.com/cache/large/0c5a81a4-f37a-4b43-937b-ae6006b9204a.jpg Pioneer Poodle Edited December 26, 2015 by Pioneer Poodle Quote Link to comment
2oldfarts (the rockhounders)
It would be easiest for anyone here to see the picture first and it is fairly easy to upload your picture to one of your archived cache page. Just go to one of the archived caches and then click on load a photo, you now have a picture on GC that you can use in the forums. We await your photo and then the people here will help you all they can. Shirley~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Quote Link to comment
+Pioneer Poodle
Shirley~ - Thank you. The procedure seems a bit - umm - indirect, but it works. The picture is here. Many of the USGS marks are not included in the older NGS database that GC uses here for us. Some of the Surveyors that come here might be able to tell you about this one or if you contacted the local USGS office, they might be able to tell you more. Good photo. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Quote Link to comment
+Gungadoy
Unfortunately it's not in the NGS Database. Here's the HVO list. Quote Link to comment
