The cache information is part to the gpx file containing it - which could be a file for a single cache or one containing many caches. While you do not necessarily need a computer to delete it (I use my iPhone or iPad), it cannot be deleted using the unit itself.

 

If the cache is part of a larger gpx file (such as that from a pocket query), you have to delete the entire file and replace it with a new file that does not contain the cache you want to remove from the device.
