obmaM
Is it possible for two individuals to own one cache, meaning could myself and another person with there own account both own/hide a cache? Is it ok to just type in the coordinates into google maps and go straight to the cache and log it? If I spend 20min looking for the actual cache, and can't find it - but have the correct coordinates - can I just log it anyway? (because I've already spent a crap load of time looking for it anyway) Am I suppose to just re hide all the trinkets in the containers, how are others suppose to find them - and who replaces the containers? And where am I suppose to keep all the containers after I find them? (my garage has to many already) Please get back to me ASAP as I don't think I am doing this whole geo thing correctly? Oh, and is ok that I show others walking by what I am doing to encourage them to give it a go? Lastly, what do I use to get the coordinates for my own cache - google maps doesn't give me that info? Is it against the rules to geo at night or early in the morning (like before 7am)? And what am I suppose to tell the cops if I get caught on private property? Because I've messed up the coordinates? Thanks in advance for your time and consideration, I really like this cache thing! Don't answer one question and not the others - please answer all as all are equally important! Link to comment

+TriciaG
I'll bite. Is it possible for two individuals to own one cache, meaning could myself and another person with there own account both own/hide a cache? You can post two names as the owners, that will display on the cache page. But only one account can own the cache - get the notifications of finds, edit the cache page, post an Owner Maintenance log to clear any Needs Maintenance logs, etc. Is it ok to just type in the coordinates into google maps and go straight to the cache and log it? If I spend 20min looking for the actual cache, and can't find it - but have the correct coordinates - can I just log it anyway? (because I've already spent a crap load of time looking for it anyway) No. You must find the container and open it, and sign the log inside. (You COULD just log it like you say, but the cache owner has the right to delete your find. Your name signed on the log is the proof that you found the cache.) Am I suppose to just re hide all the trinkets in the containers, how are others suppose to find them - and who replaces the containers? You leave the containers where you found them - put it back where you found it. You may swap out trinkets - putting in something of equal value or higher for what you take out - or you can leave all the swag (trinkets) in the container as you found them. No one should have to replace a container if you put it back where you got it like you're supposed to. If the cache is broken, log a Needs Maintenance log and describe the problem so the CO can fix it and replace the broken container if they need to. And where am I suppose to keep all the containers after I find them? (my garage has to many already) See above. You do not take the containers, but replace them back where you found them. Please get back to me ASAP as I don't think I am doing this whole geo thing correctly?Oh, and is ok that I show others walking by what I am doing to encourage them to give it a go? I wouldn't flag them down and say, "Hey, you strange people! Come over here and see what I found!" If they look at you funny or ask, you can say you're geocaching and explain more if they seem interested or confused. Best case scenario is to hunt out the caches when no one else is around. Lastly, what do I use to get the coordinates for my own cache - google maps doesn't give me that info? I would suggest not hiding your own cache until you've found at least 50 caches. That way you know how the game is played, what works and what doesn't for both hide locations and containers, etc. But you'd use your GPS (device or app) to get the coordinates to a possible hiding spot for a new cache. Is it against the rules to geo at night or early in the morning (like before 7am)? Depends on where you are. If it's a park that closes from dusk to dawn, do not go there. Don't ever trespass or break local rules or laws. And what am I suppose to tell the cops if I get caught on private property? Because I've messed up the coordinates? If you are using a GPS to get to the coordinates, you shouldn't mess up so much as to go on private property. Read the cache descriptions and previous logs, and use common sense. If you're in doubt, don't go further. Not every cache has to be found. Better to leave some alone than do something stupid. That said, tell any police officers that you're geocaching. They may or may not know what that is. If they don't, explain if they ask. Obey their instructions even if they say to leave. Link to comment
+SageTracey
Do not log a find if you do not actually find the cache and sign the paper log. Just because you spent time searching for it does not entitle you to claim a find. Better to log a Did Not Find. Link to comment

obmaM
Lol, thanks all who answered all the questions...cough cough (TriciaG). Someone mentioned something about there being trolls? But I haven't seen any yet while out caching. And anyway - how would you jam one in a container? Just to leave a few last comments - not meaning to be rude: Thanks for all the answers! I am returning to my thread in a reasonable amount of time. You wouldn't be here if you didn't find something funny about this post. I'll be waiting after I've logged 50 caches (or 100 as is traditionally expected, but I'll stick with 50) - as I've already got enough containers in my Garage to give me a head start! (lol) Again - thanks to all who commented! Link to comment
