spam web site (title edited by moderator)

I've just had three consecutive 'Found It' logs on one of my caches that stated "I really enjoyed this geocache. TFTC ----- Found with hints from gcpro.co.uk"

Never having heard of gcpro, I found that it appears to be a website for mobile devices where you can upload / download hints and photographs for geocaches.

Basically... a website full of 'spoilers'. Has anyone else heard of this?

Good grief, just how many threads about this do we need?

It's spammers.

Sit back, take a deep breath, and GS will lock the accounts and delete their finds.

All this weeping and wailing about spam...it's not like a Nigerian Prince is trying to get money from you.

Sorry..... I haven't used this forum in a while and was unaware of previous threads.

Thanks for the useful info... I seems that logs have been deleted anyway.

I may come back, I may not...

No worries, Pharisse.

With the influx of these fake accounts/logs and subsequent threads on the forums, this is a good opportunity for established and informed members to show patience and foster good relationships with cachers that are trying to do the right thing...

Considering all this, it would also be nice if Groundspeak actually said something about this and shared their plans for potential proactive--not reactive--solutions. Someone please point me toward an official response if there has been one.

I don't know of any official forum post from Geoaching HQ about this. We've been given information about it. GHQ have said there is no need to report any of the logs to them. They have a mechanism in place to deal with it and all logs will be deleted.

Good for you. This is the first thread I've seen about the subject, although I was aware of the problem, given a couple of caches I was watching had false posts of this ilk.

Perhaps a little less of the supercilious and a bit more of the "let's share lest any of us gets infected by malware" and we'd all be a bit happier.
