Shawnee State Park/PA

I'll be headed to Shawnee, outside Bedford PA, for a family reunion in early August. Has anyone done the caches there? Also, are there any in the area (20 mile radius)that you would suggest?

Yes and I would sggest Gravity Hill Mini Cache , See Three States and Hazel's Cache as near by caches.

Cool. Gravity Hill looks pretty cool. What about the caches that are loctaed in the park itself? Are they good caches? The reason I ask is that I'll probably be introducing newbies to geocaching and want to make sure they have a good first find.

Storm…I live only a few miles (3) from the park. I would recommend Bedford’s first to introduce a few newbies. My second cache would be *Annabelle’s and then *Lake Shore. *Gravity Hill cache is a good one also. All of the caches within 20 miles are good ones but if I had to pic my favorites…See 3 states…Wolf Rock…Heroes of Flight 93…Plane Crash…The Lost Children of the Alleghenies…and *Mountaineers Cache. *Indicates my own caches.

Definatley go there. If not for the cache go for the memorial. It is absolutely amazing.

Just wanted to bump this up since I'll be headed out there next weekend. Thanks for the ideas guys. Any other things I should know about Shawnee?

Well, the weekend was a sucess. Only had time to do one cache and Annebelle's Cache was .2 miles form the family reuninon site so that's where we went. We had 3 newbies with us and all of them thoought it was a great experience and want to do it some more. Thanks for the opportunity. Shawnee was much nicer than I was expecting and I would encourage anyone visting the area to check out the park.
