Adding Image to 'Description'.

I have generated a QR Code for a new Cache Location using http://scansfer.com/ which contains Final Location and Description, and downloaded the file to my Laptop.

I want to include the QR Code in 'Geocache Description' just like this example :- http://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC2651N_royal-united-qr-cache

How do I do this? The 'options' ask for an http link!

The only way I've been able to show the QR code is by adding it into Gallery.

The Groundspeak servers need to be able to find the image. As you point out you can add it into your gallery on this site by using the image upload function on the cache page or linking it to another site where it can be downloaded or displayed.

Once you upload a file, copy the image location and use the <img src="xxxx.jpg> tag in the html on your cache page. For example, the cache page you cited above includes this tag, which can be found in the page source (a good way of learning html):

Groundspeak provides some help in explaining how to include a photo in a cache description.

I have found that some additional HTML tags are handy - you can set width, height, horizontal spacing (hspace), or vertical spacing (vspace) to help control how the image is displayed on the page. Google will turn up lots of html tutors if need to look deeper into what you can do with an image tag.

There's a bunch of different ways, depending on if you're using a phone, Windows or Mac (or other).

On Windows it can be as easy as opening it in Paint and choosing the resize option (change to Pixels rather than percentage). There should be an equivalent for Apple computers. On a phone, there's a million and one apps to edit images. I use Pixlr which does all the basic features (simple filters, resize, add text, etc).

If you're on a computer and want a bit more control, I thoroughly recommend photopea.com - it's essentially a free on-line version of Photoshop with 98% of all the functions. If you use your preferred search engine to look up Photoshop and "how to resize" you'll be able to do it quickly and easily in no time.

I am trying to add nine photos to the description on a new mystery cache.  When I download the pics, they are huge.  How can a shrink them to fit?

I use GIMP, which is a freeware image tool that supports MS Windows, MacOS, and Linux. It can certainly resize photos smaller for web use, among many other things.

In addition to the other suggestions, there are programs like "Fotosizer" (free, except that every time you run it, it asks if you're ready to buy the fancier version :anicute:).  I down-size images in a large batch from my cameras and phone to 800x600 for most any cache log.  That's currently a size that the servers don't compress.  Depending on how cachers are to use the images, the size could be less than half that, to be placed along with text.  It's nice on my phone data when the image files in a cache description are as small as possible.  This thread also tells how to further select the image dimensions using HTML, and if you use the built-in editor, you can click an image and set the dimensions.
