Is there a ranking list for trackables

You're not supposed to move a cache to a completely different location!

You need to return to http://coord.info/GC39BBH Travel Inn Bughotel Jena and take http://coord.info/GC4FHPH out of it, and put it back to its correct location.

You need to post a "Needs Maintenance" log for http://coord.info/GC4FHPH so that the cache owner will know that it needs attention.

You moved the cache 7 kms away! How is the cache owner supposed to know where it is?

Had that happen twice on the same hide.

One of only two caches we have kinda close to a town.

Intro kids with no clue, got one back. Ammo cans.

Could get to be an expensive hobby quick, archived it.

Sheesh...

I wrote him. Also the maintenance bit is send. The cash is up in pieces and I do not know the correct location. Othercase the pieces gets exposed to weather and water. By the way its my small town. So I suggest that you mind your own business.

I am not aware of any rankings on trackables themselves. Project-gc does have a couple of stats on people that have discovered trackables (who's discovered the most, etc.), but I don't think that is what you are looking for.

As for moving a destroyed cache, that would depend on a number of factors. I moved a destroyed cache a couple of months ago. In this case, I knew the CO, I knew where he lived, and it was very close by. So, I picked up the pieces, and dropped them off at his home. I also logged a NM for any other cachers. Leaving the pieces would have meant leaving trash around, and would have left them exposed to the elements. I don't carry baggies for logs, nor do I carry replacement containers.

I can also see cases where I might pick up a destroyed cache if I thought there were salvageable parts, or I found the log book, and there was a good chance that a cleanup crew might just trash everything. I wouldn't put the contents of a destroyed cache into another cache, I would arrange with the CO about a meeting place to turn over the parts. Only if they told me to put it in another cache would I do so.

So, as for picking up a destroyed cache, I think it depends on the situation. Most of the time, I wouldn't. However, if you do, make sure to indicate that in the NM log. Also, consider sending the CO a separate email (or try the message center) explaining the situation, and that you have the pieces. As for placing the pieces in another cache, not without the CO's permission.

As you can see this happens near an Autobahn. I could have bring the cash 30 km away to Nohra withing 7 minutes by 260 kmh. Thats the permissible velocity of the tyres I use at the moment. The CO could have faster Tyres.

Is there a ranking list for trackables?

What do you mean?

For example: What is the trackable with the longest travel so far by distance.

Generating statistics out of the trackable database doesn't seem to be it primary purpose. I'm not even sure if it designed so that it could easily get those kinds of stats. The distance may be computed on the fly, and not saved. So, no, I not aware of those kinds of stats for trackables.

I would also be a bit leery of trackable distances. It appears that the distance computation for trackable miles will not cross the antimeridian. If a trackable goes from the US to Australia, the distance is computed with it crossing the prime meridian, a much larger distance. See this forum discussion.

Count of drops and grabs I would also see as a quality characteristic for an 'old stager'.

If I understand you well, there is no possibility to list trackables by traveled distance. Right?

There are other people reading this forum. Some might not understand what they should do when encountering a cache that has been destroyed. Maybe people in your small town put damaged containers in other caches all the time but, as a general guideline, contacting the CO and/or posting a NM log is mostly likely the preferential approach every where else. Maybe not everywhere, but this is the first time I've ever heard of someone putting the damaged cache from one listing into another cache.

Please do not get me wrong. You dont understand the german language and you do not know the circumstances. Everything you know is the sentence Pup Patrol wrote in unkindly manner, ignoring that NM-bit was send immediately. This cash is controversial because it is located in an ancient ruin in the midst of glass shatter. It is obvious that it was destroyed by another Casher, who documented the destruction properly in the log. But as a german I say to you friendly, but directly in the face: This is none of your business. Please respect the doing of other people. :-)

Let's be honest - many of us enjoy (secretly or not) drama in the forums. :drama:

However, isn't this the point at which Keystone usually enters from Stage Left and says: "Let's focus on the OP's question, which is:"

Isn't Lunatic allowed to ask straightforward questions without stalking and investigation of his entire caching career? :signalviolin:

Actually, it is my business and is the business of anyone else that owns a geocache. While you might not like the tone of Pup Patrols post, the underlying message is that placing a damaged cache inside another cache is not standard procedure when dealing with a damaged container. Maybe the circumstances of that cache are unique and maybe people play the game in your town in a certain manner, but given that this forum is read by some that may be wondering what to do when encountering a damaged container, I think it's important to reinforce a procedure that is more commonly accepted.

Are the Groundspeak Guidelines for Geocaching different in Germany? Does proximity to fast roads affect the ability of geocachers to follow the guidelines of this WORLD-WIDE game?

Greetings from Texas

I arrived here some days ago. And at the very first day I got attacked by a bunch of old bulls in off topic. You are funnier than my coworkers in the margarine factory!!   I learned the ignore function faster than the use of the messenger. ggg*
