Help: Turn-by-turn directions to alternate waypoint?

Recommended Posts

Several caches have alternate waypoints for parking/trailheads, especially if the cache is far from the road. On my phone (Note 3) I'm able to click and highlight these waypoints, and I can navigate to them using the "as the crow flies" navigation in the app, but when I click for turn-by-turn it opens my driving gps app with the coordinates of the cache. Really frustrating when I'm driving around staring at the side of the road for trails, only to realize that I'm just at the random road which was closest to the middle-of-the-woods cache, but not near the trail entrance. Anyone have a workaround for this? Thank you!

FWIW, I've used the ability to get driving directions to the parking waypoint in other apps (e.g., CacheSense). It is very useful.

If Groundspeak's app doesn't include this feature yet, then it should be added.

Do you recommend that app? I'm ready to switch to another one just for this feature (for a competitor on Android obviously). Thanks!

GCDroid offers a lot of navigation options, including support for Navigon for routing to a cache site or other waypoints. It also works well with HERE maps, which I now use on my android tablet as the default mapping app. Free. Offline. Voice navigation.

But for that matter I just tried installing the intro app, which also supports navigating to additional waypoints with HERE (among other options). So I am not sure where the problem occurred.
