Would you seek this cache?

I am toying with the idea of creating a virtual cache (it would easily comply with the new regulations) but with a unique twist: the cache is located between 1-12 miles off the coastline in the ocean. There are several I could utilize but I'm not sure which i would have a better shot at using. I won't say any more about what it is, but here's the question: would you seek this cache? Please assume that the cache is located within a reasonable distance, (not like you're in Boston & this cache is located off of Maryland or something)

PS If by some stupid chance any of you are able to figure out what the subject matter here is: DONT SAY ANYTHING!

Isn't this technically still a New Jersey cache, even though it is offshore? If so, you need a poll response for "I'd just fake a find."

I have some ideas about what you're thinking about for the subject of the cache. Go for it!

not possible. there's be identifying info required that would not even be obtainable from an internet search or even picture, assuming you even knew what the subject matter was. And I would likely also require a picture of the gps in front of this "spot"

Seems like a great idea. I don't have a boat, but if another local cacher does, I'd probably try to bum a ride.

Unless the boat is a yacht, I don't think I'd want to go more than 2-3 miles out though.

GO for it!! I love the ocean, been fishng for years, I have a 19' grady white, I'd go!!! Except my boat is in MD, so I won't be finding your cache, icon_frown.gif I think many people would feel more comfortable in a 25-30 ft boat though especially if they are not used to the sea and they lose sight of land, and that would be an expensive ride. But I'd still try it anyway! icon_wink.gif

what is so interesting that is 12 miles out??? But if it's near a Bouy you can place a Physical in a ammo can attached to the bouy...now that might be interesting. Of course you can do this....

Attach ammo can to 55 gallon drum filled with cement. Use a cable that is Depth Minus 50 feet so it doesn't get tangled in any passign ship props and push it over the side...mark it a 5/5 Scuba gear required icon_smile.gif

LOL....

I would wait for Brian to find a ride then try and tag along.

I'm guessing you were joking, but in case your not.....

Attaching ANYTHING (including tying your boat up to it)to a navaid is a federal offense.

Don't do it.
