+J Grouchy
From a post by a local reviewer via FB: Stone Mountain Memorial Association (SMMA), the land manager for Stone Mountain Park [Georgia] has contacted Geocaching.com with their concerns towards geocaching. At this time, no new publications are permitted in the park. I will be given a list of GC's to be archived, areas where the SMMA does not want people to visit. There was a bit of a heated discussion a year or so ago regarding some caches hidden in potentially dangerous or restricted areas of the park. If I see any other info I will post here. +Shilo
From the same reviewer, "I wasn't given the specific areas of the park causing the concern other than an island marked for wildlife only containing a cache. I was told the caches were related to security and safety issues." Also may be in part of the park reevaluating safety issues after a recent swimming incident. Quote Link to comment
