+ecanderson
Anyone else having awful problems getting a response out of the geocaching.com site at this time? Even the API calls are failing due to lack of authorization for tokens, so neither live nor API can be used to access the site. Quote Link to comment
+progravix
I am seeing this same thing. Quote Link to comment
+Be-con
Very very slow - best to just go caching instaed Quote Link to comment
+Viajero Perdido
Must be Sunday again. It's evening now in Europe (caching is HUGE in Europe), and I'll bet everybody's logging their weekend adventures. Must've been a nice weekend over there. I imagine the site will be near-dead until all we North Americans are tucked into bed much later tonight. Repeat weekly. Quote Link to comment
jholly
It's Sunday and morning time in North America is peak logging time for Europe. About 0500Z on Monday things will perk up as the wave of logging subsides and moves west. Quote Link to comment
Pup Patrol
So slow that I just gave up. Nice weather, Sunday morning, long weekend in Canada...can't get geocaching.com to load... yup, same old, same old. B. Quote Link to comment
+ecanderson
@jholly This is the first time it's ever been so slow here that all API token calls time out. Hardly seems possible that it's just overload from EU logging. Edit: Actually, they're not timing out. They're failing immediately, hence anything following will time-out due to lack of access. +ecanderson
Just checked again, and things have finally cut loose a bit. Will continue to monitor. Quote Link to comment

I'm sure the API server can get overloaded when the Europeans get busy with their logging. Keep in mind we are getting nice weather all over now and I'm sure their is lots of outside activity. Probably be the same from now to late September. Quote Link to comment
+ecanderson
I assume that status includes 'unplanned' outages. We're still just a tiny bit slow here (probably dealing with backlog of users who were stymied before), but VASTLY improved over a while ago. Quote Link to comment
+ChileHead
Remember it was the giga event in Germany this past weekend. With 5000 people logging it and tons of other caches at the same time, I'm sure that was a contributor. Quote Link to comment
