Game suggestions for a mega event

Recommended Posts

Just some things we've done ourselves or at other events. Adapt as needed.

Closest to the pin: (before hand) mark off an area, and throw a coin or ball or something, and take the co-ords of where it lands. People get those survey flags and guess where the chosen spot is. Closest wins a prize.

Chuck a duck (or some variation) Have an area marked off. Have a goal area - flat target, or center face-off of a soccer field ot something. People chuck their ducks, and again closest wins.

Art caching. Have people follow a set of directions with their GPS tracks turned on. If followed correctly, their tracks would make a shape. Could be a smiley, or a word, or whatever. Could be done with multi cache, Letterbox, or Wherigo.

Dirtiest car. Get the plates of the dirtiest vehicle, and call them up. Winners get certificates/cards for a free car wash. We tried this one year, but didn't tell people what was happening. Not even the other organisers knew. It would be really funny if you could get security or a police officer to make an "official" announcement. Not exactly a game, but people seemed to like it.

Ammo can juggling competition?

Hot or cold caching. Blindfold the participant and they play hot or hold to find a cache. Ammo cans for the kids to find, LnL's for most people, and bison tubes for those who talk a big game.

Poker run. Give 5 sets of co-ords. Each location has playing cards in a sealed envelop. Collect one from each location, and whoever has the best hand wins. Sealed envelops, only opened by the person running the game, and only back at the event to prevent cheating.

Night game #1. Place several reflective markers in a given area. More markers, to make it harder. Within arms reach of one (or however many prizes you have) is the prize.

Night game #2. Hide a few partial sets of co-ords in a few locations. But use UV ink. First participants have to find the co-ords, then guess which set of North, and which set of West go together, and at that location is a prize.

3 legged race. Not a standard 3 legged race. Participants pair up, and on go, they rave to a pile of strings, tie legs together. The race is to guess which marked location-flaggers tape, reflectors, orange cones, whatever. At one of them is a hidden prize.

These are mostly for smaller events, and with prizes. You could do a lot of prizes, or hold the games a couple times each game, and draw a prize winner from all the game winners.

Tossing bier coasters into a barrel over a certain distance

Holding a bier jug filled with water at arms length for a certain period of time.

These were 2 of the games at the Giga in München last year. There was also "milking the cow" and some others.

Another one is, Treasure hunt: map out a chess board on the ground. Let the players place a peg where they think the treasure is. The closest wins.

At our MEGA, we have the following games, each game gives tickets for different prize packages:

Ammocan toss, with 4 different sizes of cans. (hey must get them inside or through hula hoops)

Micro toss, each participant gets 10 film canisters filled with different stuff, so they all fly different, for every canister they get in the bucket, they get a ticket.

We put a big set of coordinates on the wall and do not tell any one why...yep you guessed it, prize tickets at them.

Look up BINGO geocaching game, it's fun.

We have a spin to win wheel for prizes.

My daughter runs a Kids caching corner, and she had games and prizes just for the little ones..Fish pond, tic-tac-toe type games.

We also hide tickets in random caches published for the event
