Instead of retyping it, I just quoted what Bigcall said! Just labeling this "Top Ten" was tough. Some caches have better puzzles than the actual cache. Some vice versa. Some are fantastic hikes to an almost "nothing" type of cache. So, I just went through my finds and followed Bigcall's listing statements. +JoeCthulhu
Au Naturel Experience has been on my list for a while. This sounds like a good one to do as a group. Now that the weather is cooler, I'm thinking about tackling it. Anyone else out there need to log this one? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ War is God's way of teaching Americans geography. -Ambrose Bierce, writer (1842-1914) Quote Link to comment
+bigcall
I agree with a couple of GLM's picks that probably could have been included in my list. Rappahanock Reconnaissance was an outstanding cache that just disappeared suddenly along with OlyHippy. I didn't want to add too many archived ones since I thought this might be a good list for anyone wanting to identify and go find the caches on the list. The other one I agree wholeheartedly with is Moonshine Mountain. The only reason I left it off is the distance from the rest of the others since it's a good 80 miles from here. JoeC, Au Naturel is a good one, the area would be great for traditional caches but I guess they aren't too cache friendly - yet. I would suggest that you try to hit some of the other good ones out that way while you are at it. Having just done a few out that way on a western swing I hit Order of the Phoenix, Old Dominion Happy, Stonewall, and Primal Instinct. GLM and I tried to get to Solitary Confinement but the park was closed so I just kept going north and grabbed Ashby gap and Bear's Den before heading back east going over to Purcellville for the B-Team's bunch there. This would definitely make for a full day. Success is not measured by the position one has reached in life, rather by the obstacles overcome while trying to succeed. - Booker T. +BeachBuddies
Wow.. there's so many I haven't done yet But of the ones I have, I really liked these: Cedar Haven (or any of the B-Team's series) Rambo's Huntley Meadows Cache (a very nice park) A Walk in the (Ashburn) Park (a great multi for the kids) Blackrock Basin (wonderful mountain hike, great hide) Weird Stone House (interesting site) SIGH-4 (a tough puzzle cache) -BeachBuddies Quote Link to comment
+Gaiter Man
This was really tough. Although I agreed with many of the choices already listed, there are a few differences. I did not list any caches that are currently archived or disabled. The list is not ranked. Cannon Fire by DisQuoi Confession by bigcall Easter Egg Hunt by flowerman The Naked Eye by TheCacheRats Summer of 69 by bspeng Scott's Run Mystery Cache Primal Instinct by Beach Buddies Moonshine Mountain by OUTSID4EVR & MAJELLIN Manassas Gap RR by pkpaul A Walkabout Town by Dave (Do this one at night during the Christmas holiday season) I chose these primarily for the physical and/or mental challenge involved and the overall experience. Maybe this would have been easier if it were a top 100 list, but I'd probably feel the same way I do now -- that there are others which are deserving of a place on the list. Quote Link to comment
+djs_111
My favorite Nova cache is Uncommon Valor,it's a very moving location! Round Top Beaver Pond was pretty easy because the swamps were frozen when I did it. N6DJS Quote Link to comment
