+AutisticMajor
I'm not sure where to post this, but when I search now and click the Search FAQ button, it links to http://www.geocaching.com/blog/2015/03/faq-the-new-geocache-search-tool/ which gives a 404 Not Found page, with nginx/1.4.6 (Ubuntu) underneath. Could someone fix this? Quote Link to comment
+ecanderson
A transient error, perhaps? Seems to be working OK here this morning. Give it another go. Quote Link to comment

+MartyBartfast
the address is good using http but https gives the 404 error. Maybe AutisticMajor is using a plugin to force https, however it should really be fixed on the server. Edit to add: I was intrigued to see there's Ubuntu behind that page, I thought Groundspeak was a Windows only shop Edited May 3, 2015 by MartyBartfast Quote Link to comment

+ecanderson
Still pondering this thread. SSL isn't really needed for every known web site and every page. Are people advocating that the entire internet must respond with SSL (https) for everything??? Quote Link to comment

Are people advocating that the entire internet must respond with SSL (https) for everything??? You can also turn this around. Is there any reason not to use SSL, or even better it's successor TLS? People often cite performance as a reason not to do it, but with current technology and hardware that's hardly the case anymore. +ecanderson
That's like asking if there is ever any reason not to chew up a few extra CPU cycles if the code that is running isn't necessary to the task at hand. Sounds like the old days of 'just throw more memory at it'. It's how we've come to have such incredibly inefficient code on damned near everything these days. Quote Link to comment

+ecanderson
Darned near can be free, but only for one of 'lower caliber'. Most don't know that certificates come in 'flavors' (DV, OV, EV). Quote Link to comment
