+BeachBuddies Posted October 14, 2003 Posted October 14, 2003 DisQuoi -- I'm have not heard any detail about your decision, but I wish you the best in any case. I certainly enjoyed finding your caches! If you end up using Navi..... or Open....., let us know! -BB (sites abbreviated to avoid the censors) Quote
+JoeCthulhu Posted October 14, 2003 Posted October 14, 2003 Everytime there is a get together of cachers in Northern Virginia, sooner or later we start talking about Disquoi's caches. They are (were!?!) some of best around. At the 2nd Annual Capital Cache Walk, one of the particpants mentioned that Disquoi had archived all of his caches. I came home today to find that my logs on the 4 of his, that I had found to date, had been deleted. There seems to be the beginnings of an explaination at his new profile (search for "Dissapointed"). He says it is acceptable to relog your finds, but I'd like to know more about the "disappointment" before I choose whether or not to do so. Whatever the reason(s) it's a dadgum shame. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ War is God's way of teaching Americans geography. -Ambrose Bierce, writer (1842-1914) Quote
+nikcap Posted October 14, 2003 Posted October 14, 2003 I chose to restore our logs, simply for the fact that these hunts are the best cache hunts we've had geocaching. Someday, in the archives of GC.com, probably long after it's been bought and sold by yahoo or some other God-forsaken dot.com, someone might be interested in these logs and caches as I truly believe, DisQuoi's caches and the effort he point into them, were the pinnacle of Geocaching, but I digress. I've spoken with DiQuoi, and sympathize with him. Please contact DisQuoi directly about this matter, as it is really not my place to comment any further. +RobAGD Posted October 14, 2003 Posted October 14, 2003 Its mostly in referance to this - Dope Cache I had an email convo with him the other day about this. He still loves geocaching but is having some issue with the TPTB. -Robert Quote
Keystone Posted October 14, 2003 Posted October 14, 2003 Please keep your discussion of this geocacher, and of the admin who was involved, respectful and in accordance with the guidelines for conduct in the forums. Thank you. Quote
enfanta Posted October 15, 2003 Posted October 15, 2003 Hey, Keystone! Could you direct me to the guidelines for the forums? A quick search around the site didn't reveal anything like that. I guess I'm curious b/c I didn't read anything I consider out of line in this thread yet. I'm wondering what standards TPTB are setting. Thanks! -+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+- Wearer of duplicative protective headgear. Quote

enfanta Posted October 15, 2003 Posted October 15, 2003 Thanks Planet. Perhaps they should post that at the top of each forum or something. -+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+- Wearer of duplicative protective headgear. Quote
Keystone Posted October 15, 2003 Posted October 15, 2003 1. There is indeed a desire to publish the forum conduct guidelines in some manner that is more conspicuous. They were put in the announcements forum as a stopgap, to get them published. 2. There was a trend developing in the thread which I thought warranted a friendly reminder. Nothing drastic, just a reminder. I far prefer to moderate in that manner. Generally I will be a bit quicker on the trigger in the Northeast forum as opposed to the General forum, where I am also a moderator. There, I wear kevlar. Here, we are all friends. We see each other at events and find each others' caches. Quote

InfoPop's guidelines are available at the top of EVERY page. Goto TOOLS, HELP, FORUM RULES. They are pretty similar to Groundspeak's rules. Quote
enfanta Posted October 15, 2003 Posted October 15, 2003 The more of these rules that I read, the more fearful I am of posting. Was that the point? -+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+- Wearer of duplicative protective headgear. Quote
Keystone Posted October 16, 2003 Posted October 16, 2003 We hope to have the Groundspeak forum rules available by a link accessible from each forum page. Enfanta, I cannot recall ever reading a post from you that would require moderation. Perhaps we could start an argument in a separate thread so that you could see what it's like? Maybe make fun of my funny clothes or my poor mountain biking skills. Quote
+GLM Posted October 22, 2003 Posted October 22, 2003 Hmmmm, noticed that my "Found" count went up by 4 overnight. I had previously re-logged my DisQuoi caches and now there are duplicate logs. Not sure who, but someone with admin privs(?) has restored the original logs?????? If you see your "Found Count" jump up, you may want to check DisQuoi's caches to see if you have duplicate logs. I am going to wait a day to see if someone purges the duplicates automatically. Gary ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Drop back 10 and ........trip over the cache. Quote
+GLM Posted October 23, 2003 Posted October 23, 2003 I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all remains stable, but I just went and deleted all my "duplicate" logs for the caches. Gary ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Drop back 10 and ........trip over the cache. Quote
