Newest in state

I miss that option cause it limits to the state and you can find the oldest cache for the state easier.

When you are on the page that Palmetto linked to, click on the "Placed" column to sort them by "placed" date. You have to click it twice to get the caches listed by oldest first.

https://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest.aspx?state_id=42 (all caches in the state of South Dakota)

Click on "Placed" twice:

https://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest.aspx?state_id=42&sortdir=asc&sort=placed (all caches in South Dakota, oldest first)

Tech illiterate I guess, I simply click on the darker >>, taking me to the end (oldest) with one click.

I do miss the "Newest In..." though, for its one click instead of the four needed now.

Wow that would be great if I lived in South Dakota.

I liked the original way because it would list your home state first. Then you can switch it to whatever state or country you want. Instead of going forward these new things they add is going backwards.

Well, I used that state because the OP specifically asked about South Dakota. I have no idea what state you would be interested in finding the oldest placed cache.

I've made a bookmark for "newest in Ontario". People will need to do whatever is relevant to them.

I don't see the point in complaining about it any more. GS changed it, and they aren't going to change it back. I preferred the link in my profile, too, but what's the point in complaining now?

So if someone wants a different state or country, then they need to use the Hide & Seek page and do whatever clicking is necessary to get the info they want.

I was only trying to help the OP, not start another discussion about whether it's a change we like or not.

I'm another who regularly used the Newest in state link. I'd search either Vermont or New Hampshire, and occasionally other states, to find out what the upcoming events were. They might be over 60 miles from my house, so the new 30 mile radius limit is much more limiting than I like. If I'm interested, say in events in NH, how would I be able to find what the upcoming events are? And is there any way Groundspeak could give us a way of finding this out?

Events in New Hampshire

I went to the search page, https://www.geocaching.com/play/search

clicked "add filters"

on the filters page, I deselected all types, added back Events.

In the Search Only In... pane, I started typing New Hampshire, and then selected United States: New Hampshire when that was offered.

You could just bookmark this search.

My understanding is that you can only select one location at this time, ie, you couldn't do a Events in New Hampshire and Maine
