azog Posted January 18, 2003 Posted January 18, 2003 Woke up this morning, and it's four degrees out. Was planning on going caching. I had my target area all picked up - just a short 30 minute drive down 287 till it ends, and then head north. I even picked out one of those Ess Dubu Aye Emm Pee SWAMP caches, figuring that it'd be frozen solid by now. Well, my car won't start! I was afraid that might happen. Oh joy denied. Plugged in the solar charger, hope that I can get it started soon. ---------- Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you be also be like him. Quote
+Mopar Posted January 18, 2003 Posted January 18, 2003 That's why WE are gonna do our NJ caching today further south, where its a balmy 10 degrees! Tae-Kwon-Leap is not a path to a door, but a road leading forever towards the horizon. Quote

mortonfox Posted January 18, 2003 Posted January 18, 2003 Indeed I did see Mopar's log at one of the caches I visited today. I left home and got two caches before the temps hit the double digits. Good thing the GPS works when it is that cold. Quote
+briansnat Posted January 19, 2003 Posted January 19, 2003 It was below zero in Vt Friday evening when I went to look for a cache. Left my gloves in the car too. Not smart. And it turned out the coordinates were about 200 feet off. Thank goodness there was a good clue, so I eventually found it. Next morning it was 12 below. Brrrr! Alas, I couldn't convince my caching partner that 3hrs of hiking in a frozen marsh when the temps are in the single digits is fun. I plotted out 14 mostly easy caches instead. Mostly 1/1's and virtuals. Made it to 7 before she turned into a Popsicle! Oh well, I did at least get Magician's "Hillbilly" cache off my list. Needed at least a little workout for the day. Course now I have to spend the day shopping to make up for it, hehehehehee. Tae-Kwon-Leap is not a path to a door, but a road leading forever towards the horizon. Quote
marty621 Posted January 29, 2003 Posted January 29, 2003 After having set the cache and reset it and watching the first team conquer it, I would say its no more than a two hour adventure. Sub-freezing temps is the time a good time for it and bear in mind the tide does not have to be completely low, there is pretty wide window of opportunity with the tides.
