+Yorkshire Yellow Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 I'm interested in getting to grips with an easy way to determine which D/T combinations I haven't yet found and which caches local to me would help me chalk of some of the as yet unfound combinations. I have GSAK but can't seem to find an easy way of doing this. There must be something out there already, mustn't there? Any clues/hints/tips/suggestions from anyone out there, please? Quote
+Bear and Ragged Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 (edited) GSAK. Their forums are very helpful! A quick search of the macro index http://gsak.net/board/MacroIndex.php using the word 'fizzy' reveals: MissingFizzy2HTML.gsk This macro will output an HTML page displaying a simple d/t grid with your finds in green and those you're missing in red. Clicking any of the red cells will display within the HTML page a table of caches meeting that d/t combo within 150 km/miles (depending on your GSAK settings) of your center point. You can then click through on any of the caches to the GC.com page for the full listing. Or FizzyChallenge33.gsk Edited January 28, 2015 by Bear and Ragged Quote
+Isonzo Karst Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 (edited) an easy way to determine which D/T combinations I haven't yet found Aside from GSAK: If you look at your own stats page, you'll see the grid that shows this. Looking at that, i see you need the whole 4.5 difficulty row, and the 4.5 and 5 terrain rows. So create a pocket query for caches from your home coords, at whatever distance you're comfortable with, that have D 4.5, any terrain. Another any difficulty, with terrain greater than or equal to 4.5. Those ought to keep you busy for a while ;-) Edited January 28, 2015 by Isonzo Karst Quote

+duncanhoyle Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 I wrote myself a GSAK macro for doing this but these days I pretty much only use ProjectGC as linked to by patdhill. It sometimes seems to miss out the odd one that would help fill the next round of my grid but it's usually reliable. It analysis your finds, shows you your current grid, lists the caches which will complete you current grid and shows you them on a clickable map. The only thing missing is a way to limit it to the closest one for each d/t combination (unless they've implemented that since I suggested it to them). Quote
+Oxford Stone Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Definitely recommed project-gc as above. You can specify a central point and a radius, and you get a map with links to caches you need for the D/T, hidden date or hidden month grids. This has helped me zoom in on caches for the 2nd and 3rd of these grids in new places on many occasions and gives ideas for local-ish walks to tick a few more boxes. Last July 2 of us spent the day Reading-Newbury way just going for about 6 hardcore caches to colour in that bottom right corner of the D/T grid and without project-gc, planning would have been a lot harder. Do you get to watch OUFC much, YY? Quote

I'll give these 2x macros a go. Quote

+Yorkshire Yellow Posted February 5, 2015 Author Posted February 5, 2015 http://project-gc.co...e&submit=Filter I'd seen that, but when I used it, all the caches if found for me were way off my home location. do you know if I have to set it in Project-GC, or does it take it from my home coordinates I've set in GC.com? Now that they've provided this search functionality it's a little easier to do it through the GC.com website. Quote

Do you get to watch OUFC much, YY? I'm getting to grips with this a little better now, thanks. Me and Mrs YY used to have season tickets for 6/7 years, but that all went by the wayside when she fell pregnant with our first child almost nine years ago. Now time and money don't allow many, if any, trips to see the team play at home. Now I have to make do with occasional trips to see them play, usually away at grounds within relatively easy reach of where I live in mid-Gloucestershire. How about you OS? Quote
