New Rule

So a local cacher just showed me a link to a cache page that said Groundspeak will no longer allow people to log temps caches at events. I do not really care either way but I am curious as to when they decided this and why. Does anyone know anything about this?

Link for reference:

Geocache Listing Guidelines/Requirements

More specifically:

Cachers will expect your cache to remain in place for a realistic and extended period of time. Therefore, caches that have the goal to move (traveling caches), or temporary caches (caches hidden for less than 3 months or for one-time events) will not be published.

That has been in the Guidelines for a VERY long time.

Here is a link to an upcoming event cache in the OP's home area, which has some text talking about the prior practice of logging multiple "attended" logs on the event listing. That won't be happening anymore.

Did the cache get published with that wording, or was it edited after publication?

Since new GC.COM rules will prohibit logging temps at event caches, we want to offer some loggable permanent caches to the event
