+Shaved Ewok
So a local cacher just showed me a link to a cache page that said Groundspeak will no longer allow people to log temps caches at events. I do not really care either way but I am curious as to when they decided this and why. Does anyone know anything about this? Quote Link to comment

Link for reference: Geocache Listing Guidelines/Requirements More specifically: Cachers will expect your cache to remain in place for a realistic and extended period of time. Therefore, caches that have the goal to move (traveling caches), or temporary caches (caches hidden for less than 3 months or for one-time events) will not be published. That has been in the Guidelines for a VERY long time. Quote Link to comment
+Manville Possum
Lab caches come to mind. Quote Link to comment
Keystone
Here is a link to an upcoming event cache in the OP's home area, which has some text talking about the prior practice of logging multiple "attended" logs on the event listing. That won't be happening anymore. To MPH: Lab caches might be part of the solution, if and when they're extended beyond Mega Events to become available to other event organizers. Quote Link to comment

That won't be happening anymore. Did the cache get published with that wording, or was it edited after publication? Since new GC.COM rules will prohibit logging temps at event caches, we want to offer some loggable permanent caches to the event B. Quote Link to comment
Keystone
I didn't review the cache. There's nothing wrong with the current text as it relates to the discontinuance of "temporary event caches" and instead installing new, permanent caches. Quote Link to comment
Pup Patrol
The text states that these are "new" rules, which is incorrect, no? Hence the reason for this new thread? B. Quote Link to comment
+Shaved Ewok
If Groundspeak changed the rules to prevent people logging the same event several times then yes they changed the rules. They have never cared about this in the past. Also curious what this May mean for a nearby monthly event that has been reusing the same gc for a decade, lol. Quote Link to comment
