OPTIMUS AMICUS
Happy New Year everyone. I've just upgraded my GPS from the Garmin GPSmap 60 to the 64st. The old 60 had a way to personalize the welcome screen but I haven't found such a feature on 64st. Does anyone know if Garmin did away with the welcome message personalization? Tks. +ecanderson
@Optimus Your specific question has been answered above, but in a more general sense ... moving from a 60 to one of the newer models, you need to understand that you now have direct access to the file system on your unit -- it looks like an external drive when connected to your PC. That is probably going to change a LOT of things about how you interact with it vs. your 60. For example, you can slide *.gpx files straight over into a folder on your new unit if you like rather than having to use an application to communicate that data to the unit. Quote Link to comment

+BikeBill
Insig's link didn't work for me. In case anyone else has the same problem, the process is the same or similar to changing the welcome message on the Oregon 600, which can be found here: http://garminoregon6xx.wikispaces.com/Startup+Message Quote Link to comment
+ecanderson
? Seems to work fine here. Perhaps just a transient issue with Garmin's server. Give it another go. Quote Link to comment
+BikeBill
Still getting a server error. Maybe it doesn't like Firefox. Edited January 3, 2015 by BikeBill Quote Link to comment

+ecanderson
Using Firefox without problems here, too. Wonder what's up? Are you right clicking on the link and selecting "Open New Tab"? Quote Link to comment
