emmeany
I was wondering if this would be an appropriate container, and if so what size would it be. http://s741.photobucket.com/user/EriNC88/Mobile%20Uploads/story Quote Link to comment
+BBWolf+3Pigs
I was wondering if this would be an appropriate container, and if so what size would it be. http://s741.photobucket.com/user/EriNC88/Mobile%20Uploads/story Small. It does not appear to have a watertight seal, so no, from what I see it would not hold up well. Quote Link to comment
+Ms.Scrabbler
Doesn't look water tight. Best way to tell is put paper inside and weight it down under water or run it through the dishwasher. Quote Link to comment
+L0ne.R
Found another photo online: I've found these used as caches and they unfortunately are not water tight. No gasket. Best to invest in an authentic Lock & Lock - about $3 for that size. Look for the Lock & Lock logo on the container Quote Link to comment
+Uncle Alaska
If it will be placed in a protected location, it would work fine...if out in the open and/or exposed to nature, then maybe not... Quote Link to comment
emmeany
I tested it as Scrabblers suggested and found that if it is placed right side up that it did not leak when held submerged for 3 minutes. When it is lid side down however it leaks within 5 seconds. Quote Link to comment

As much as we don't want to admit it, some geocachers aren't the brightes, and won't put it back where it was, how it was. Quote Link to comment
+jellis
I've seen those before. They hold up somewhat. Better then cheap glad ware. Quote Link to comment
+Team Microdot
I have a similar but larger version of this container which has been in service for almost 4 years and the contents remain in pristine condition. The hide is sheltered from the direct effects of rain but it also seems to escape any condensation, despite being at ground level. To be honest I too expected the container to be less than ideal, given the lack of a sealing gasket and also that the closure isn't especially tight - so I've been very pleasantly surprised Quote Link to comment

Nope...they have always been available. Just harder and harder to find since the major retailers like Target, JC Penney & Walmart stopped carrying them. Quote Link to comment
