abbedabb Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 The other day I found a TB in this cache, but when I tried logging it, I could not choose "picked up", since the person leaving it there hasn't logged leaving it there. So according to the logs, the last thing that happened is that someone picked it up in Scotland, although I picked it up to months later and brought it to Sweden. I tried to contact the user who last logged picking it up, but I haven't received any response. Should I just wait? Quote
+Bear and Ragged Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 Wait? Yes. But how long have you had the TB? (You've marked it as Discovered, do you have it in your possession? It may help if you say so in your log...) If you Grab it we get threads like this one > TB Collected before I could log the drop There are ways to do it, if you've had the TB for awhile, and want to get it moving. Quote
+Bear and Ragged Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 If you decide not to wait/you've waited long enough. Grab the TB. Visit it to the cache you found it in. Backdate logs to when you Found the cache. Continue caching as normal, until you Drop the TB in a cache. Quote
+dprovan Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 If you decide not to wait/you've waited long enough. Grab the TB. Visit it to the cache you found it in. Backdate logs to when you Found the cache. Continue caching as normal, until you Drop the TB in a cache. This. And essentially you've already virtually "waited" months: even though you just found the TB, it's been unlogged for months, so I claim you can take credit for that much waiting. Personally, I advocate no minimum wait time, anyway -- log it right away if you need to for your own purposes -- but we don't have to debate that here because you're essentially finding a lost TB, and you want to tell the owner you have and where it is right away. But do visit it to the cache you found it in as suggested by Bear and Ragged so the system knows what you know: that it was in that cache. Quote
+MartyBartfast Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 If I was you I would wait a bit longer. The other cacher isn't an occasional cacher, the other caches he's logged between picking it up and you finding it have all been small so maybe he's only just left it in the first cache which was large enough, also the place you found it is quite a way from where he seems to normally cache, so he could well be on holiday. Unless there's a real reason why you need it in your possession quickly I would wait a week or two. Quote
4wheelin_fool Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 They may get annoyed, but since you have attempted contact without any reply, I don't think they will get their knickers in a twist. Quote
+Beach_hut Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 At the very least, I'd suggest posting a note now so the TB owner is updated (if you've not already) Quote
+Cascade Reviewer Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 I'm moving this thread to the Travel Bugs forum. There have been some great replies to your question so far, hopefully the discussion can continue there. Quote
abbedabb Posted November 5, 2014 Author Posted November 5, 2014 (edited) Eight minutes ago the user logged placing it, so now I have logged picking it up! Edited November 5, 2014 by abbedabb Quote
