Picture/graphic on the cache side-bar

Side bar? I'm not sure what you mean by that. Do you mean the attributes? Like flashlight required, or long hike? You just choose add/edit attributes. Anything other pictures you have to use HTML- and it's different depending on where you want the picture- as a background for example. Google HTML for images and that should help you.

If you mean the space to the left and right of the listing column on a page, it's not actually the sidebar; it's the web page background. There is an option when editing your listing to provide the web URL to an image so you can provide a custom background image - different than the plain default earthy green.

A good test would be to paste the url in your browser address bar and see if it loads an image - not a web page. The URL should end in ".jpg". If you use the URL to the image page on flickr, it won't work (it's not an image, but the flickr web page).

You'll need to find the "View All Sizes" link (should be accessible from the Download icon when viewing an image in your gallery), then find the image size/dimensions you want for the background image (usually one of the medium sizes should be enough), and grab the URL to the image itself.

As far as I know, it depends on your privacy/share settings for your images, but you should end up with a url that looks something like this (this is an example):

https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3921/14903877816_c8ee94c47c_c.jpg

Note that it ends with .jpg

Alternatively, if that's all too tricky, you could just upload the image to your geocache listing gallery, then use the image URL from there. That's usually the easiest way; but it means the image will also be viewable in the listing's gallery by anyone viewing your cache. Not usually a problem unless you want the background image to be a 'secret' ;)
