couple of questions on the 62s

I just bought a Garmin 62s to replace my 60CSx. The main, (and really only) reason I got it was for the paperless feature. However, I don't seem to be getting any hints. The rest of the cache page and last few logs show up just fine, but no hints.

 

Also I tried to download the Northwest trail maps into it, but cannot figure out how to get the program into the unit, nor how to show the maps when I do.

 

Any help on either of these would be great.

You have to select Go To before you can call up the hints.

I selected go, and called up the cache page, no hints. I see you said "call up the hints". Is there something else I need to push, or should the hint appear with the rest of the cache page?

Perhaps the cache(s) you looked at do not contain a hint?

Once you've selected a cache and are navigating to it, from the Map screen press Menu > View Geocache > Show Hint.

The built in manual for this unit is really bad. Hard to figure anything out with it.

 

I'm glad to see it won't show the hint until you ask for it. I generally like to try to find a cache without the hint, only looking at it before giving up.
