PAF

Ho does that work?

PAF – “Phone A Friend”. Usually done in the field, via cellphone. This may take one of two forms. If the cacher is hunting a cache without the cache page information, he or she may call someone who will look up the cache page and relay the description and hint. In other cases, the cacher may phone someone who has already found the cache, in hopes of getting additional information about its location.

This definition leaves out the fact that the person who has already found the cache doesn't correctly remember the details of the location. :anicute:

Phone A Friend.

We'd like to be able to email the CO, but many never respond.

So, my other 2/3rds has a list of friends she calls if a simple roadside hide seems to be missing or coords lead her to nada.

Others call her.

Most are the same she plays online games (scrabble and hang man-like games) with.

I have a ton of names in the phone and many have mine, but they all know I delete all coords at the end of the day, need a rough idea where they are and can't recall a cache's location by it's name a week later. :)

I keep seeing references to a PAF. I assume that is a contact with the CO. Ho does that work? Is that while in the field or a second trip to a cache?

<_< what about us that don't have a phone?

I guess we just fake it then?

I guess you have some, less that official, options:

CAF - Call a friend

YAF - Yell at a friend

SSAF - Smoke signal a friend

SAF - Semaphore a friend/Signal a friend

OR

FIOY/FIOM - Figure it out yourself/Figured it out myself

Could be worse. All those options and have no friends. :)

If you don't want to PAF or can't, you can do what I do, which is to keep searching.

Keep searching ??? How quaint! I would have been there til doomsday on some! :(

"That's so 2000 & 8,

& you're 2000 & late!"

I tell ya it's CITO (Call In The Owner)(my version)! No contact list needed - it's right in the cache listing. No hi-tech pricey gizmos in the field? No prob - do it from home, then return and use your hint next time you visit the cache. :)

I've used PAF once. I don't have a cell phone and have never asked other cachers for their phone numbers. Sometimes, I will use e-mail a friend when I get home. Who needs friends anyway?
