I have a 2004 California Geocoin

Recommended Posts

Says to track at:

www.calif.geocoin.net

but the site is long since dead.

It only has a four-digit code stamped on it, not sure what to do with it. Is it trackable?

What number is on the coin? If it's between 0276 and 0325, it's one I let loose.

I kept 0276 and 0325 to remind me what numbers I had.

All the ones in between were given out or placed in geocaches.

Over the years, have received back 0300 and 0284.

Be cool to get one back that's been out there this long.

Here is an older thread about this that may help

http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=206193

Per that thread, people seem to know this "Marky guy" who shows up in the WHOIS search. Geocoin.net is actually registered through 2020. And I wouldn't give that one up if I owned it either. :P

Must have taken it down due to lack of interest years ago. I actually found one of those near Toronto, Ontario around 2007 or 2008 (and the website worked then).

Rummaging through stuff I found an unactivated 2005 California geocoin.  I know Marky, a local guy who doesn't cache much.  I've pinged him to see if the site can be fixed to work again.

If I get a response I'll report back.
