+15Tango
My wife and I are flying out east for a wedding in a couple of weeks, and lucky us, we have an 8-hour layover at Chicago Midway. Being the cache hunter that I am, I'm not going to sit in an airport for 8 hours if there are any good caches nearby!!! Can anybody suggest any "don't miss" caches in that area? Thanks--15T Think Globally, Act Locally Quote Link to comment
+Markwell
Unfortunately, the closest cache is a good 4.1 miles away (Filigree Building). There aren't any within walking distance to Midway, but you might want a cab or see if you can hook up with a local cacher. But as far as recommendations, funny you should mention this. We have a new feature on our ChicagoGeocaching.com website. We have a system of voting for favorite caches in a region and by category. Granted, only 11 cachers have voted so far, but we have a breakdown of caches in the NE, NW, SE and SW area of Chicago, and by five different types: Great for Kids, Great for Newbies, Quick In and Out, Most Rugged and Don't Miss This One. Since Midway is in the SE region, a number of caches hit that list. Of those that are in the SE region and are less than 10 miles away... Great for Kids Blarney Stone (7.7m SW) Great for Newbies Blarney Stone (7.7m SW) Quick In and Out Filigree Building (4.1 m SW) Traffic Jam (5.1 m N) Island Refuge (9.7 m W) Prairie View Cache #2 (6.9 m SW) Most Rugged None Don't Miss This One Schoolhouse Cache (8.8 m SW) Nature's Bleacher Seat (9.3 m SW) To see the results of the votes, go to the Tally Page for our voting system.
