Caching along I-90

Hello All...

At the end of this Summer, my wife and I will be driving the length of I-90 literally (we are moving from Boston to Seattle)

I was ondering if anybody has compiled a list of caches along the way, hopefully not too far off the interstate as we will be towing a trailer ($$ by the day!!)

Thanks in advance for the info... My address is nitefall@mac.com

There are five (non-virtual) caches in Indiana within a few miles of I-80/90. At least one of these is a 4.5/4.5, though, so be warned that they might not all be appropriate for a cross-country trip. Also, 80/90 is a toll road through Ohio and Indiana, so you might not find a nearby exit (though I think there's a nearby exit for most of these.) I've put them in the order you'll encounter them on a westward trip:

Now if you can just get someone from each of the other states to do the same...

Here are a few from the PA line through Cleveland.

These are just a few that should be trailer friendly, but punch in 44121 as a zip code and do a cache map for Ohio. Then zoom in until the little cache markers are understandable.

BTW, I know the third one I listed is OK to stop at. Its a reststop on I-90.

Wow - I-90 goes through the heart of Chicago, but I would guess you'd want to bypass the main city with I-294. I'd suggest taking 80/90 from Indiana and following it to I-294 through the western suburbs of Chicago, then picking up I-88 to I-355 north, which matches up with I-90 on the far northwest suburbs.

That being said, there are a TON of caches along any of the interstates in Chicago. Of note is one in particular: Beverly- the oldest cache in the Chicago area. But there are more that I can't even phathom.

From Chicago, I-90 heads toward Rockford and there are at least two worthy caches in that area: Rock Cut Cache and Willow Creek Family Adventure.

I-90 then turns north to Wisconsin and hits a couple in Beloit and on up through the state. If you want a few more details on the Chicago area, let me know. If I had to put one on the "Don't Miss" list for I-90 through Chicago, it would be Beverly.

Thank you all, for the info...

On a side note... On about June 1st... I will be releasing 16 Ducklings with TravelBugs attached from a cache in the Boston area... They are trying to make it to Seattle before I do... If you happen to see one please help him along.

Thanks...

If you need a break on your trip, I recommend the SPAM museum in Austin, MN. Its new, Its nice, its free. And they have a great gift shop where I picked up some nice goodies to put in caches - SPAM gold tees, SPAM paper clips, SPAM rulers that say "SPAM rules", etc.

I just got back from "The Search" geocache event at Mt Rainier. I brought along a SPAM can piggy bank (free with the SPAM tour) for use as a prize. It was a big hit. Everyone chanted "SPAM, SPAM,SPAM,SPAM" as it was given away. icon_biggrin.gif
