+S.A.M. - Saxony Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 To create a suitable cache listings we're looking for large icons etc. of all of the different cache types and climbing icons (T5). Can anybody help? All found icons are not bigger than 800 x 800px, especially Virtuals, Giga, GPS Maze, CITO, Lab Caches, Webcam are very hard to find. Quote

+S.A.M. - Saxony Posted June 15, 2014 Author Posted June 15, 2014 Large! It's very difficult to create banners, listings or anything else with 80px-icons. Don't know, why GS doesn't spend some large icons for the users?! Quote

Don't know, why GS doesn't spend some large icons for the users?! Are your source files only 80x80 pixels? I once found a couple of decent sized icons for printing (I think they are the same one or two on the site that have a large version), and was able to upscale them a little, by tracing them in AI. Once vectorized, some may be printed huge and still look great, depending on the trace. It's possible to draw them from scratch, but I didn't need that for mine, and can't anyway, since I'm artistically deficient. Edited June 16, 2014 by kunarion Quote
+van der Decken Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 You can find svg (vector images) files of many of the icons you seek here. Quote

Keystone Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 FYI, the 80x80 icons (and the tiny 32x32 companions) can be found here on the Cache Types page. Quote

If they are real vector files, you can scale them as you want. SVG = Scalable Vector Graphics. I tried to download those when the link was posted last year. The "SVG" icons do in fact scale, but they're unfinished fan art, not official icons, and some more unfinished than others. They're a starting point for an artist to create scalable versions. The ones that need no text may work just fine on a banner, with a little touch-up, depending on the situation. Here's a comparison of GS icons (on the left) with the SVG files (on the right), after I worked on the line thickness of the SVG icons, which were hairlines: Edited June 15, 2015 by kunarion Quote

These icons are great and I'd like to use them. But I did not find anything about terms of usage, license type or anything like that on the Groundspeak website. Can anyone help? Quote

They're big enough to screenshot, but it would be nice to download the SVGs properly. I noticed cachemoji has the icons. Could there be a way to download them from there? Quote

There are links above in this thread. Click this, for example: https://www.geocaching.com/app/ui-icons/icons/cache-types/2.svg In Brave on Android, there's a download button in the menu bar. In Brave in Windows, "More Tools... Save As" is a way to save a file, or right-click on the displayed icon and save it. The image that you see is the SVG file already "downloaded" for view. The next step is to save the file. In Brave with Windows 11, and in other browsers, right-click this icon, and "save image as..." To get more icons, you must choose the image name as described in this thread. But I haven't tested them to be sure they're all still available. Edited August 18, 2023 by kunarion 1 Quote
