New GPS Problems

Recommended Posts

I got the Magellan eXplorist GC geocaching GPS and I cannot download caches to it. i downloaded the software, but the download button wont activate on the site. Anyone else have this problem?

You can only download the LOC file-that is the co-ordinates(LOC Waypoint file). You cannot download a GPX file-that is the description, hints, etc, unless you are a premium member. That button is "Send to my GPS" is that the one you are trying?

And as a side note, delete ALL geocaches and waypoints on the explorist GC.

You can use the Send To GPS button with that unit - I had that one - but I am a premium member. You can print out the cache pages, including 5 or 10 of the most recent logs. That gets old fast, uses a lot of paper and ink, and I could only recycle so much! You are doing the right thing in deleting the preloaded ones.

You may also find that you have to log out of geocaching.com and back in again for software to take, and in my case, I had to restart my computer! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask! Welcome to the fun and the forums.

There have been problems reported with send to GPS.

It all started with IE. Install the plugin into Google chrome or firefox for best results.

If you use IE then the plugin must be enabled and set compatibility mode to accept geocaching.com.

good luck.

Until recently, I was able to click the send to my gps button and download GPX files to my Garmin Nuvi 1450. The GC and coordinates would load into Favorites and as treasure chest icons on the screen. They could also be found in the GPX folder by using Windows Explorer.

Now, when I click the send to my gpsbutton the information is not shown on the GPS. The file still appears in the GPX folder.

Both the Geocaching website and Garmin have been updating stuff lately. Has anyone else had this problem and do you know how to work around it?

I am a member and I use Firefox, if that is relevant.

Thanks,
