+rockey_f_squirrell
Living near Chester IL (Southern IL), where there is a bridge to MO, we see the Huge Difference in the two states, Gas Prices, Firework laws, and Geocaching. In MO I have seen many ammo boxes in state parks. But in IL state parks do not allow them. Why is that? (I think they are still permitted in Shawnee Nat Forest though) Quote Link to comment
+jtbrady01
I can't answer directly for the State of Illinois. However, many areas are starting to require containers to be clear so the contents can be seen without opening the container. This will cut down on the number of false calls to law enforcement for potential suspicious activity i.e. "planting a bomb". Solid Ammo cans while being great containers for geocaches can blend in real good and could make a good IED. Quote Link to comment
+T.D.M.22
Just an idea here. An ammo can originally contained explosives. We are just asked to paint all caches non-military colours, and cover up all markings. After all if you see something that was made to hold explosives and is marked explosive what would most people(non cachers) think? Quote Link to comment
