+geocachingmaarten
Hello guys I also posted this topic in the belgian forum, but a second opinion is never bad. Last month I have hidden several caches. But now I have the idea of making a USB-cache. So you open the container and there is the USB, en you have to type in the log on PC instead of with a pen. I don't know if this idea is may be used, or not. So can I do this? And if yes, maybe you can give me some ideas to make this cache even better? Kind regards from Belgium! Thank you, I saw it on a youtube video though. But no problem, I won't do it then :/ Quote Link to comment
+Manville Possum
USB caches, aka Dead Drops are not permitted here but are a cache type on another geocaching site. I think they are a bad idea and may be used to upload a virus to a PC. Maybe that is why they are not an accepted cache type here? Quote Link to comment
+K13
My sharpie marker will write my sig on the usb stick/log. I wouldn't put the usb from a cache in my computer for fear of catching a virus....but if I trusted the CO and decided to do that anyway, it would require me to take the usb stick home after I finish the day of caching, log the find on the computer, then try to get back to that location to replace the usb log before the next person comes along to find the cache. Then what about my buddy who uses his phone for all his caching & logging? Quote Link to comment

So no taking the USB home or replacing it with a throwdown. I'm sure this is just another reason this type of cache is not accepted here. Quote Link to comment
