+DukeOfURL01
A friend of mine who goes to school up in Alaska was poking around some drawers in a science classroom and ran across an old mark, he didn't have a photo of it, but he described it to me, and the way he described it, it's definitely a triangulation station, it's U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey, and it's stamped "ASTRONOMIC" But that is all I know. I'm trying to figure out what mark it is. It may not have even come from Alaska for all I know. I thought it may be UW4620 or UW4190 but then the stamping on those only contains "ASTRONOMIC" and then also other stuff, but not just that. I can't find anything that has just that. I might be able to get a picture, but it would take a couple days. Any ideas? Quote Link to comment

Bill93
Yes, a photo would help us be assured we have the all the information. Does it have a year stamped? That would be important confirmation if any description was found to otherwise match. I think one would need to check out all the related designations, because sometimes the stamping is not the full designation. Quote Link to comment
+DukeOfURL01
I'll get the photo. It for sure does not have a year (or anything else) stamped on it. Quote Link to comment

TT1521 *********************************************************************** Hmm, that fits. The station would definitely be destroyed, since the mark is actually in the back of a classroom somewhere in Fairbanks. Quote Link to comment

Bill93
There's always the possibility that it was left over from a project. There seem to be a lot of stations with similar names. The fact that there is no date would lend support to the idea. Maybe somebody stamped a bunch of them in preparation for a project and was going to put the date on them when they were set. The stamping looks cleaner than the cast letters, like it had been stored somewhere it could get wet or dirty at one time, but not after stamping. Quote Link to comment
+DukeOfURL01
Hmm. Yeah, the name is kind of common for marks. Quote Link to comment
