Geocaching Summer Camp Position in Oakland

Recommended Posts

Hello! I work at the Oakland Zoo and for the last many years we've run a really successful and really fun geocaching summer camp as a part of our regular lineup. Unfortunately our regular teacher is unable to return to us this year and we are looking for a new counselor! Below is the job description, as well as how to apply! Thanks for your time.

The Oakland Zoo is nationally recognized for providing the highest possible quality of life for more than 440 native and exotic animals. Our mission is to inspire respect for and stewardship of the natural world while providing a quality visitor experience. As an American Zoological Association accredited facility, we offer a variety of on-site and mobile education programs for over 50,000 school children each year in addition to serving over 650,000 park visitors annually.

ZooCamp is a summer day camp program run by the Education Department at Oakland Zoo. Each session is one week long and programs repeat multiple times each summer. The ideal candidate for this position has a love for tweens/preteens and geocaching. Prior experience working with middle school students in day camp or childcare settings is required. Personal experience geocaching and setting up caches is required. Formal training in biology, zoology, ecology, or environmental science is also a plus. For summer 2014, we have one open position working with our Curious Cachers program.
