lilbeardy
I downloaded a topo map from GPS FILE DEPOT and loaded it to my etrex 20 and all it shows is a gray and white grid. Do you know how to fix this, or is this normal Quote Link to comment
MtnHermit
Did you first install the download to MapSource or BaseCamp? You can NOT directly install the download file to your GPS. Did you zoom into the grid, 1-mile or less to see the detail. Quote Link to comment
snowfleurys
It would be helpful if you said which map as the numerous maps there are created by many different map authors. Quote Link to comment

+coggins
Neither of those two maps are topographic, they are both overlays. You use them in conjunction with a topographic or planimetric map. Quote Link to comment
+Mineral2
It looks like they're both transparent overlays that only contain trails and a few waypoints. Though, it should overlay on top of the eTrex's basic base map. You should still see the base map unless you disabled it. For a topo map, try installing Minnesota Topo (I assume you want a Boundary Waters map). Quote Link to comment

+ecanderson
It would be helpful if you said which map as the numerous maps there are created by many different map authors. Map 1 Map 2 If you look at those map pages carefully, you will note that both are in shown in conjunction with topo maps (for example, Minnesota Topo in the latter case). The authors of these other 'maps' do so to show context for their own content, not because they're including a topo map in their data set. Quote Link to comment
