Must GeoCach areas.

So, as I am new to geocaching I have to say I am completely enjoying myself. It seems Geocaching is different for different people. For me, its about getting out of the house and seeing new sites.

I was wondering who planned day trips to see new sites and go geocaching? I actually just made a trip to Snoqualmie, WA and visited the below cache, not a bad way to start the day, visit the falls, visit a bog, stopped by the Travel bug hotel to get my RV Travel bug "EB's Tour #5" on the way.

Anyhow, just curious if anyone has sightseeing trips that are tied into geocaching trips.

Most of my Saturdays are spent exploring the community I live in finding caches. You can find lots of interesting spots even in the local areas that are near your house that you probably don't even know they are there. There are lots of parks, interesting historical spots, and great geology that are around here that you can find through geocaching. One good way to do that is by using the Favorite Points feature on geocaching.com. Caches with lots of favorite points might be because of the great container, stunning vista, or interesting history or geology, but there is typically a good reason for the them to have a lot of favorite points.

I often pick camping trip locations based on the caching opportunities around that area and there are lots of geocaching events which are tied into hikes or even rafting trips (see http://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC4WCK5_skagit-eagles as an upcoming example). Even when I'm traveling for business, I'll take an extra day (of vacation) and geocache in that area to see the spots in a way you won't get exposure to in most any other way.

My family spent a good portion of the summer grabbing the State Park caches and we found many trip worthy areas because of it. If nothing else, geocaching has taught me that I don't have to go to a national park or out of country to find beautiful and amazing places to visit. We plan on travelling down to the Columbia River this year and exploring all the canyons and waterfalls along it. I also want to go up to the NE corner of the state as we have spent zero time up there so far. If you are looking for a nice day trip a little closer, I would recommend travelling 101 on the East side of the Olympic peninsula. We've run up to Sequim a few times now for caching reasons and I always enjoy it (There is a geotour there too :).

Actually, I plan my caching around our vacations. Once the route is settled (we drive most everywhere), then I start looking at caches along the way.

We were on a 4-week road trip last summer, and only bagged 115 or so caches.

The only trip that had caching take priority was in October, when we went down and knocked out the ET Highway. As soon as that was done, we reverted back to "trip first".

Hello! Welcome to Wa geocaching! Snoqualmie just so happens to be my least favorite place to geocache! If you've had success there, then you've already developed a great sense of geosense!!

I am lucky that I get 2 days off during the week, so I frequently day trip it specifically to geocache. To be honest, just about any little town will be an awesome geo-opportunity (umm. With snoqualmie being an exception, lol)

I find that I often start too late, and take too long, so I get am trying to get back home at prime traffic, or I am racing like a mad woman to get to the ferry (I don't know why, I never make my intended ferry.)

My quick advice would be to get up early! Lol

I am still a bit new to area (almost 3yrs!), so even places like fall city, Duvall, black diamond, enumclaw...even places like that were a load of fun to geocache in. West Seattle is a blast too.

You should try your hand at the peace series! A series of of caches that will teach you how to solve puzzles!

Also, here's a link to our FB page, Cachers of Puget Sound. We're pretty much an awesome group of people
