Fangamon
Etrex 20 temperature reading. Anyone know how to access it? Service menu does not even display it! Quote Link to comment

+BlackRose67
Of the new eTrex units, only the 30 can show temp readings and I believe it needs a separate tempe sensor to do that. Quote Link to comment
+ecanderson
If your 30's firmware is current, it will read the ANT+ sensor that Garmin sells for this purpose. Since the 20 doesn't do ANT+ ....... http://www.amazon.co...&qid=1386825291 Edited December 12, 2013 by ecanderson Quote Link to comment
Fangamon
All GPS's read a temperature value, even my Etrex H and Nuvi 50 has it in their service menu's! But the Trex 20 has it blanked out, why? This has nothing to do with Ant and the new TEMP option on the 30! Edited December 19, 2013 by PigSti Quote Link to comment
+ecanderson
Too cheap to add the thermistor to the board? Quote Link to comment
Fangamon
Too cheap to add the thermistor to the board? It should show the internal thermometer to an accuracy of 1°C. It's used for compensation of temperature drift of clock crystal. Quote Link to comment

It's used for compensation of temperature drift of clock crystal. Why do you need to know that information? What do you gain by knowing that value? It's not like it's going to tell you the ambient air temperature because it'll be skewed by the circuit board's temperature. Do you just want to know it because you feel like it, or is there some legitimate use for it? Quote Link to comment

Question still stands, does anyone actually know the answer about blanked out (--) temp reading on Etrex 20 service menu? . Edited December 21, 2013 by PigSti Quote Link to comment
