Hiding places

Well guys (and gals) I've discovered that some places only sound like they might be a great places to hide a cache. As some of you know, I would like to hide a cache at several ghost towns or old town sites. Only have 1 like that right now. On Wednesday the Geocache Kids and I went to hide a cache at Quindaro. Quindaro was a townsite near the Kansas shore of the Missouri River with some great history and potentially one of the most promising archeological sites along the Missouri (most have been erased by floods). However my plans were quickly set aside when I realized what type of area we were in - let's just say that we couldn't get out of the area fast enough. So you'll have to get your history lesson in another way. Check out http://www.sfo.com/~denglish/quindaro/quindaro.html

Hey,

Sounds like there's a lot of history tied to the area. What's wrong with placing a cache there- the landfill, cemetary, or burial ground?

Maybe you could use the newly abandoned hospital. One of the leading Gunshot "accident" areas in the metro area and now they make our transport time for patients longer. Good old HMO's..... Ryan and Rhonda

Maybe the murder rate? I'd go back again... in a Brink's armored car. eek.gif

And yes Todd, I am new to the area.

This my or may not be a different topic but here goes.

If a person have one of those GM cars with the On Star system in it and pressed the help button, would the happy little voice guide them to the cache they were looking for?

Would anyone like to try this?

Okay so I've been up for 36 straight hours.. I NEED sleeeeeeeeep.

Yes, they will. My friend has an Envoy LT and he has used it for just that. It has a pop up flat LCD screen on the dash and that shows a map, plus he tunes in a FM Station and the ladies voice is there giving verbal directions as well. Ryan and Rhonda

OK, Bad cache hiding place idea #2.

You know, on all the KC maps and the phonebook maps and even the county and Parks maps there is this park in KC Missouri on the south side of the river east of Downtown called Riverside Park. DON'T GO THERE.

First it was harder to figure out how to get to the gate than any cache I've ever tried to find. 2 the park has obviously been abandoned. How long ago I don't know. The gate area looked like Woodstock after the hippies cleared out. Everything from broken glass to syringes - but hey, somebody left a couch and a matress there if you ever decided to sit or take a nap for a while.

t Street, west of the casino. I think it was built just a few years ago, when there was all the hub-bub about redoing the Riverfront area, you know, hotels & a shopping area, etc. Wasn't exactly any places to hide a cache, eh? Guess a good spot would have been under the couch! A clue could have been "Pretend you're a remote"

I know exactly what it is you all are talking about with the Quindaro area, but it's actually not that bad. It still isn't a good place for a cache. I have a place (maybe a few) in mind of where I would like to put a cache, but I have no GPS and don't plan on buying one for a long time (unless there are cheapies out there).

That is actually name "Richard Berkley Park" after the past mayor. There are actually still plans for an Aquarium there and there is an Ampatheatre there as well. A lot of homless people reside there. When I still worked for MAST ambulance we'd average a call a day there for just about everything. I have rode my bike on the trail there and it comes out in the river market if you head west from the entrance that is off of River Front and I-35. There is another river front park further east that I used to play Baseball at as a kid. It has been closed for many years due to PCB's being in the soil. Plus now the new Chouteau Bridge runs right thru it. Oh well, lots of good places left.
